Never heard an exhaust that sounds good on our trucks.

I think the Pro catback sounds just right. Anything more is awful.

    It’s a good looking exhaust.

From a dig, the Tacoma in the video sounds slow though.

More aftermarket options for Tacomas is always a good thing though!

Probably the ONLY exhaust I know of that sounds good on a V6 truck. Lololol. They did a good job with it for sure.

For $1300 you might as well get the spec-u exhaust and benefit from the equal length system.

Have the TRD exhaust on ours and it definitely has a drone. It's not terrible but at lower speeds it's a bit annoying in the cabin. Have actually thought about swapping it out for stock exhaust for some peace and quiet.

I'd like a set of dual tips on my stock exhaust like what is on the Awe. They look good.

Drone? Are you sure you know what drone is, seriously I have never heard of the TRD exhaust having any drone and I'm sure Toyota would not use an exhaust that drones. I have been in a few with this exhaust and I have never heard any, in fact I was dead against any that do in fact have drone. I have a few muscle cars and lots of Mustangs with some drone which can be ok for short driving and for the person in another car hearing a nice car with some drone can actually sound right nice to a car guys ear.

After more than 4 decades of building engines, working on cars and trucks I know what drone is. ;)

I swapped to the TRD exhaust and while I do like it for the most part, there are times where I wish it were quieter. Plus, I regeared and run quite high rpm at times, and I'm pretty certain the stock setup would be quieter. I kept the stock and have considered swapping back with a new tip and selling the TRD. But, there are times i like it, too.

There is definitely some drone at times, no question.

Yeah, it’s not terrible, just annoying sometimes. The OTT tune in ours makes it hold gears longer - which is awesome - but it does run the RPMs up to a pretty high/loud level. I can see where a change in the diff gears could produce the same thing.

I have another truck with an LS2 and Magnaflow cat-back dual exhaust. I really enjoy the idle burble, rumble at speed and roar when I jump on it, and no drone. Would have installed Flow Masters if I wanted that. o_O

Smaller engines can sound good. Had an MR2 as well as a Celica that were both fun to drive and sounded great. No drone.

So I may get used to it, or I may throw a stock muffler in. Not a big deal. (I’ll keep the TRD black chrome exhaust tip though. :D )

Glad everyone is free to make their ride their own, drone or no drone! :burnrubber:

Any other thoughts on this exhaust? I’ve watched all of the videos and can’t really tell how loud it is. Seems like a sweet setup and perfect compliment to the maggy supercharger. Not really looking for more noise but willing to make a trade off for gains.

I installed the awe today. Drove the taco around for a bit.
I'll call it "the gentleman's exhaust".
Because the exhaust sound is polite/noticeable (not loud) at startup, while idling and at cruising speeds.
It does get loud when you get on the throttle.
No drone while cruising on the freeway.

Thank you for this. My main concern would be when towing and having to get on it more. Good to hear there is no drone - that is the biggest thing. As much as I want it, I should probably pass, but a solid dyno chart might convince me otherwise. Guess I’m getting old.

FWIW - Agree with all the comments above on the TRD drone - test drove a trd pro before I got my OR and couldn’t stand that exhaust but I’m one of those people that are more sensitive to drone.

Finally replaced the TRD performance exhaust on ours with stock and life is better. I found a local guy that put a Borla cat-back on his almost new Taco and was selling the stock exhaust. Picked it up and installed it the other day. Wife smiled when I started it up and has been complimentary ever since. It wasn't that bad, but I'm happy, but more importantly, so is the wife. ;) Haven't noticed any hit to performance either, so we're just enjoying the peace and quiet and the stereo a little more.

Guess I'll need to find a new home for it! Cannot believe how stupid expensive they are from Toyota, in the $900 range. If I got half that it'd pay for the replacement and the Toyota black chrome exhaust tip I ordered. :D

Oh man I wish I could that that off your hands, too bad I'm too far away from you (in FL). I've been looking for a used TRD Exhaust for a while now.
