Tricky a new deck or fix that one??:annoyed:

Rebuilding a Mower deck Like I like to do can get expensive .:anonymous::spending:

People have used fiberglass mat with many different outcomes .

Looking for a new deck now but going to load it up and run by the local vo-tech to see if I can talk them into trying to weld a plate over it. Pretty thin feeling in that area so I know it won’t last. That’s the location of the deck that gets sandblasted the most from the blades.

I know I could no problem added reinforcement in that area might help .

Even if it needs to be on the outside because of clearance with the blades.

Not as bad as garbage Truck Floors but real close.

    Good luck!

Yes, and they are intact! They were about wore out from the sand but no indication of hitting anything. I know I hit a couple of sticks but nothing solid. I felt sand hitting me toward the end of my mowing, especially if I was backing up. When I finished I found it.

I actually think it’s just from the sand getting kicked up and abrading the metal and plastic guard over the years.

The hole looks about the right size and shape for a piece of metal or rock to have exited the deck at a high velocity.:notsure:

A piece of ⅛" x 3" flat stock heated up and hammered over a solid part of the deck to get the radius could be tacked inside the deck if you have enough clearance from the blade. A little fiberglass on the outside (if you want to make it look pretty), and you're back in business.

I’ll get the deck pulled and put a new blade on to check for clearance. I think it might be high enough to be ok. I’m not worried about pretty on the outside lol

    Sorry this happened.

Given the option I'd rather have Blevins broken mower...

No water here except the 2 quarts I drank today while mowing the in town lawns -- all 7 of them. :bananadead:

Consider I probably have a few thousand miles on mowers over all these years.
Whilst mowing today I had a brand new experience.

I was putting the mower on the trailer and noticed this spot on my shirt - WTH...

A bird $#@t on me...
Probably I startled it while mowing up against some bushes and it lightened the load during take off.

After all those years in Maintenance I have been shat on many times, never quiet so literally however.

After seven lawns and the injustice dealt me by the bird I felt a bit of compensation was in order.

Took the old wagon out for a run and turned 55,000 miles, first time around.
The truck has about 53k for reference despite being 51 years newer than the wagon.
