I think it's $20k for the portal setup, plus wheels, tires, CMC, brakes, etc. to make it all work.

 

Portals are cool but they've never been practical in a cost perspective for these trucks. If you could do portals for about 5k it would be A LOT more appealing, but for 20k I could go full 4wd long travel with glass

 

At that point I probably should just drive something else lol

 

You can SAS these trucks fully with that much money lol

(Do these all have portal axles? I'm not sure). 3.5k. If needed, a portal axle kit appears to be about 5-6k for these.

Tacoma tax + 20k is a lot. Not saying that soup to nuts it's not worth 20k, but I would rather spend $ elsewhere.

 

Yea they're on portals and so are g-wagons. They're nice in the fact that you can get more gear reduction with them and more ground clearance but for that kit that was posted its too much

Eammon @BadDNA how you guys doing? I saw your wife's post this morning about the road in your town

 

We're safe at home with power. Cabot and Marshfield (along with a lot of towns all over the state) got fucked up bad, but we can still get to rt2 (our little private road is right on it) and travel east from here toward St. Johnsbury if we need to get out.

 

Glad to hear it you guys are doing alright. Pretty crazy how much water that storm brought

 

Dang. I was up in north central mass yesterday, rained a lot, but they were saying that it was raining all weekend. We were sunny and decent "down south" all weekend. That's crazy.

Yea it's wild. I remember there was a nasty storm about 5 or 6 years ago that fucked up VT and NH in certain areas and I drove through it on the way to ME. It was a crazy storm. We had some really strong flowing rivers but I don't think any flooding really

 

NH VT and much of Maine are, through June, let alone July, "much above average". We down south in RI are at or a smidge below average, which is surprising anecdotally, but I could see that.

 

I'm in a below average area but a few towns over had their beams in the road to add the levy wall because the river was getting crazy. I wonder how the camp is doing, that's in a much above average area. Water falls must be ripping up there

 

Yeah low local rainfall but the water comes down from the greens and whites and the rivers are movin'. Going up to NMW this weekend, I'll take pictures

 

Yea I'm sure Grand Falls would be great to see right now

 

We got 4.8" of rain according to my weather station. Fortunately the effects were nothing like central/northern VT. Some washed out roads and localized minor flooding. My back yard drainage is a little messed up from getting washed out, but I've been tweaking that since I bought the house so no big deal.

River yesterday - you can actually see the debris line where it was as high as the fire pit at one point. Must have been in the middle of the night. Fortunately, it didn't sweep the chairs away.:



Deer by the river last month - this camera is on a tree that would have had a couple feet of water under it during the storm.


Good news is it really did some damage to the stupid knotweed. It'll probably come right back, though. It always does.
