i honestly didn't know about them until i was walking around some amish stores in shipshewana. turns out the indiana amish are allowed to use solar/battery power for stuff, so the stores in the area have entire sections of all sorts of battery powered gear. 20v 'corn cob' lights that run off battery adapters, and adapters of every sort so they can use any pack they want, even some battery doublers to run dual packs.. i'm going back the end of the month, i need to take some notes on all the various options they offer, so i can do some better price-checking--we all know it all comes from china, and the thing i love about china is that they sell to anyone that waves money at them.

This paint I'm trying out lays down super smooth. We'll see how durable it is.

Once the temperature is over 65 degrees my brain slows down .

What caused teachers to be sure my Brain was broken . Come the summer I was lucky to spell my name 2 Times out of 20.

I need to look most words up in the dictionary. I loved jobs in the -10 freezers through the summer.

I will be better after the first good frost.

90% of the time I use that, too. I love it. Only issue I've found is that if it dries too fast it'll crinkle a bit.

I've had really good luck with it so far. One really light coat to start. Wait 20 minutes, then heavy coats after that. 3-4 coats and it's been super smooth.

This was my latest from last weekend, granted it’s the gloss not the matte. Same though, light coat for adhesion and then three or four heavier for coverage and build. My garage was probably 85 degrees?

(also I’m still proud I burned in an 1/8” center rib on the bottom of that 16g plate and didn’t burn through it, first project doing anything that thin)

I painted this set of blocks in direct sunlight and they turned out really smooth.

    20230707_110233.jpg

After the last coat I put them in the garage to fully dry. It was like 90 degrees yesterday

Come to think of it, I have way worse luck getting a smooth finish with gloss paint.

Definitely could have just been that it’s gloss. I’ve had great luck with the flat/matte cans. Oil pan on my cb750 is painted with it and even through heat cycles and road grime it still looks perfect.

You might want to give this stuff a try:

Rust-Oleum 214944 Specialty Reflective Spray, Clear, 10 Fl Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LNVC1M

it’s semi-transparent, meaning it’s clear but as you build up more layers it will start to look a bit milky. My experience with it has it reflecting some light but not as much as the safety tape on trailers. It might be that good balance that will act as your clear coat and reflect the light for your projects without you having to add the labor of scuffing the backing plate.

Unless you already told him of a way, tag the guy that bought your table from you and share this -

    20230711_151019.jpg

Perfect for cleaning the gantry tubes, especially nasty ones like mine -

    20230711_150709.jpg

Spray on a mechanic's rag, then wipe the tubes -

    20230711_150939.jpg

After I wipe it all down, I use clean, dry shop towels to remove any residue before lubing it up -

I remember when I first got my plasma cutter, even a hand job was fun. Now, not so much. Just wanna cut on the table.

    20230711_192543.jpg

I heat my garage with wood in the winter. I have one 2' x 12' permanent rack completed, but I need two more 5' x 4' racks to make it through and not run out of wood. Been using some temps for the 4'x5' ones. Started a permanent replacement this evening. I use heavy gauge expanded metal, thick wall 1"x1" and 1"x2" tubing. They are plenty strong for wood plus any snow that piles on top.

I bend the expanded metal over both the front at rear and weld it. Makes the top really tight.

No glamor shot welds because I didn't put much effort into mill scale removal since these are just wood racks that sit outside behind my garage all winter.
Need to extend my cover roof also.
