Yeah I didn't see that till you mentioned it. I guess then my only option is to find an older R150F if I want to make this work. That's a real bummer.

The ax-15 out of the jeeps is basically the same trans, maybe the input shaft off of one of those will work, or toss the trans from a jeep in there. There was a thread on pirate from a while back about taking the good bits from both and combining them.

And really if you get one of these the tail housing will let you bolt on a Rubicon T-case...

Since you will obviously need more wheel torque

So I've landed on commiting to a 2wd conversion on the truck. It really comes down to a forward looking perspective. I know it is possible to use a Toyota transmission and it is possible to maintain 4x4, but sadly there is little to now information out there on the nuances to make it work. Additionally, I would want to make more power in the future than the R150f can handle and I would be back to figuring out a transmission and transfer case setup.

I am currently looking at a reman T56 from summit as it should be able to handle more power in the long run and will ensure I keep the truck manual. Going 2wd and automatic would change the truck too much and is a no go in my book.

So that's the current compromise that I will make to keep the project moving and also alleviates the oil pan headache. So I guess the next step is to tear into the truck and get the engine, supercharger, trans and tcase out and prepped for sale. Not a fun proposition when it's 100* out for the next two months.

Yeah not ideal and not what I really envisioned doing but it takes a lot of complexity out of the equation and should be a beefy solution. If it keeps me moving forward, it's a good thing. Was on the fence of scrapping it due to some of the issues I see.

Simple is better while figuring things out.

Can always change things up down the road and have a functioning truck while figuring things out

Why don't you just do a divorced t-case to keep 4wd?
you could always do that down the line as well.

That could be done down the road. Have to fish the driveshaft through what is already going to be a tight spot on the driver's side with the header taking a lot of room if I don't do a don't cross over. Its something to consider for later for sure.

Just do something like this but passenger exit. Shouldn't be a problem fitting it :luvya:

that's what That one dude did with his LS swap tacoma to keep it 4wd. Just did a front crossover pipe. Eventually just went to 2wd prerunner though.

Looks like it took it too far though and now parting it out. Might have some shit you'd want actually Ben.

That's an extreme 8 to one collector!? That's a bit wild. Eventually would be cool to figure out a fender exit exhaust with a turbo under the hood. If I could ensure it stayed out the weather I would have a hood exhaust. Of course that's all turbo ideas. It will run back with a side exit before the rear tire.
Way too far. The exhaust wasn't the big hurdle I saw for 4x4, it's the oil pan. Might need to read there and see what he used for a pan. Could leave the diff and not have to make custom axles or find 2wd spindles.

fairly certain they just cut one up and welding up their own bottom pan from what I remember. Was a while ago though since I read about it.

tbh it doesn't look that bad to weld up your own pan or cut and modify it to fit your needs. It's just steel. I see people do that a lot. the only issue is making sure the pickup isn't starved or in the way of things.

Although you have a better idea than I for how feasible that is with how much of it you would need to remove.
