I got popped some years back on an illegal u-turn for having a pretty mild ~%40 tint on my tC, had to go to traffic court to prove it was removed. Was told "only cars tinted from the factory are legal in CA"....

*looks around at window tint shops next to every Starbucks on every corner*

Damn, that sounds like alot of fluid to lose! You should get a hunk of plexiglass or something to cover it when not in use.. possibly help with evaporation?

When you add a random 5 gal of water do you add a splash of the cutting fluid to try and maintain a ratio? For our cold saw I have the luxury of walking across the commercial complex and borrowing the refracometer from the metal supply house and I check the ratio with that. I might be over thinking it for a DIY scenario

No no, you read that wrong.

It's water I lost; the mixture is 5 parts water 1 part solution.

yeah I see the tinted windshields once in awhile, I don't get how people drive like that...even with a light tint on my side windows I hated how dark it made trying to use the mirrors at night

Yeah I wouldn't do a windshield. Hell, the GX is tinted from the factory.

It was the LC I meant to get tinted since it had that 'gold' or 'bronze' factory tint that was barely tint at all.

    I can't recall, is your 4R tinted?

I don't think the fronts are but the back windows definitely have a tint, I assume it's factory because most of the ones I see look the same. I like it, gives Sofia more privacy when she's back there.

It's water I lose, and plenty of it when I leave it alone for awhile.

And no I don't cover anything at all cause it's just water, but nice to see that single jug of fluid has already lasted me this long.

Ahh ok yeah, factory for sure.

Then it's just the base models that lack tint.

Is that hug before or after she smelled it with your hockey gear in the back? :luvya:

I just dump it wherever it's convenient.

    It mixes itself.

oh that was a one time deal when I first got it and had to leave the Tacoma at your place, that shit stays in the bed of the truck 24/7

The T4R does have a smell though, when I vacuumed it last weekend and looked under the floor mat rugs it was ugly to say the least. That damn water leak, gonna need to really clean the carpet one of these days

I just hope @0xDEADBEEF doesn't put me out of business with the LT group when he buys an 8' x 10' CNC table for his new garage.

you know it's funny, ever since I did my first oil change on it the leaking has all but stopped. No drips underneath it anymore when parked, still a bit of a burning oil waft after I park it but that's probably the valve covers

I was having to top it off every couple weeks but I haven't had to top it off since I did the oil change almost 2 months ago. I guess maybe the high mileage oil formula helped swell up the seals to slow it down a good bit.

gonna keep an eye on it and if it comes back or gets any worse then yeah. Do need to do the VCs though for sure

Well shit that's good to hear.

Valve cover you'll knock out easily. You going to paint it like most people?
