What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I've still got that vent sitting on the parts shelf. it's starting to get hot enough to need it so hopefully that goes in soon.

 

I gotta find one just so I can have a project for when I'm in between the big projects lol.

 

It's time for less wrenching, and more wheeling. Truck is ready for some hoodrat shit this weekend!

I pulled mine from a 97 Avalon, and the duct from a 00 4Runner.

You ever get a side by side of the vents?
Wondering if cutting a hole would be any different than swapping the vent. Better seal?

 

No comparison pictures, unfortunately, but they were identical besides the hole in the duct. The seal connecting to the center dash duct is solid, and the seal to the driver's vent *should* fit fine, but like I said, I didn't remove the dash panel, so I had to blindly line things up with two fingers and didn't get as good of a seal as I could have.

The hole in the duct for the vent has a bit of a lip on it, and is lined with foam to make a good deal there as well, so if you end up cutting your own hole in the existing duct, it might not be a bad idea to line it with foam or neoprene or something.

Mostly everything came in. Now I gotta order leaf bushings because they were out of stock when I bought everything else. I also gotta save to buy the wheels that I want the tires to go on. Est is about another month to save and assemble and it'll be sitting high and pretty.

I have 3 other vehicles that I can drive to save miles on the truck. Once it hits 200k I probably will drive it a bit more
