I always found the bread knife in the block worked best. Wife not like so much.

Hoping to convince the skunks under the deck to go sleep elsewhere. 30% vinegar, some Dawn dishwashing soap, peppermint essential oil, and some leftover Lysol laundry sanitizer. Smells worse than the skunks.

Might get ants too. I make ant spray with 20% apple cider vinegar, 3% isopropyl alcohol, 3% Dawn soap; remainder is water. Spiders too.

You'd get along just fine with my grandpa. A raccoon was around his house for a while. He tried many things but that fucker kept knocking the lid off the garbage can then flinging garbage as it searched for food. One night gramps, an avid hunter and luckily chief of the local FD at the time, stayed up late. He put a steak in the bottom of the garbage can and sat inside the garage with the door open and lights off. About 2 AM that raccoon showed up. As soon as his ass was in that garbage can gramps unloaded both barrels of his trusted 12 gauge double barrel. End of raccoon problem.

Cops showed up in less then five minutes. It was sometime in the mid 80's and being the FD Chief he wasn't even written a ticket. lol

my dad had a major problem with some skunks using his yard as a highway. they apparently 'reload' every 3 days. like clockwork, he'd get woken up by the smell every 3 days at 2-4am. this went on for about 3 months.

he zip tied some irish springs soap up to the fence, 6" off the ground all along the side of the property in about 20' increments where they were constantly walking. they haven't been back in 3 years now.

I worked with a fellow who put a lot of effort in his garden -- and had an ongoing war with woodchucks.
He kept a 12 gauge in the bathroom and "from the seated position" could do the sniper thing out the window.

One day while sitting there reading the Readers Digest he observed a woodchuck and dispensed with it in the usual manner, unknown to him (and it wouldn't have mattered anyway) downstairs his wife was visiting with a lady from the church.

BOOM -- directly above her head
Lady: "My goodness! What was that?"
Wife: "Just my husband in the bathroom..."

we've got a rabbit problem in my neighborhood. there's been times where i count 3-4 in my small backyard. can easily count a dozen in one walk around the block..

my neighbors got a crossbow. i keep trying to convince him to thin the herd. he just laughs. said he stopped that a long time ago.

apparently, the neighborhood used to have a major cat problem. 4 old ladies on the block feeding them, there were many dozens. he took to thinning them out with the crossbow out the back door. the day he stopped was when he hit one straight through center mass. but it didn't die. it ran. after it got hung up on the fence for obvious reasons for a second, it found a hole, then ran through the front yard, up the street, and past 2 of the old ladies houses that fed it...

he said the worst part was losing the $10 arrow.

I don’t want to have to haul one off, I’d rather run them off.

time to make everyone feel better about their messes!

my dad has a rental house with a long term tenant. had to replace the sump pump in the basement. this is the basement of a 1200sq ft house... 'problem' is a bit of an understatement. most of it is new stuff, in the packaging. retail therapy i guess. my house now feels nearly spotless.
