Now thats a good looking truck. Fender flares are a bit large, but overall, nice. It looks more utilitarian and practical somehow. I like the interior and it’s got a metal bed! Cab spoiler would need to be removed though.

Don’t think a typical American could get in and out of it, that said… used to have a VW bus for about 8 years, always wanted a combination of it and my Tacoma.

Give me the workmate with a tray bed, for some reason Toyota refuses to offer commercial trucks here. Trays make much more sense to me if you actually use the truck as a truck.

Nice! Have considered importing one, but so tired of spinning wrenches.

Are you basing your opinion on pictures? Or did Toyota release actual specifications?

The rear seats have shocks built in so it can turn into a transformer. Probably takes up more interior room.

The 1st gen tundra in my
Opinion is the perfect size pickup truck. I wish I had picked one up over the Tacoma some days

I’m more of a function over from person so that never bothered me.

my ‘96 F150 single cab, 6.5’ bed with the 4.9L straight 6 wiiiitthhh 5 speed manual was arguably the best pickup truck ever made and truly the last of the true pickup trucks before everything turned into the Texas S Class trucks we have today

A friend of mine had a Straight 6 5 Speed MT F-150 in the late 80s or early 90's, was a damn good truck.

You said 'was', what happened to it?
I'm still driving my '96 Tacoma 2.7L 5-spd manual with 415,000 trouble-free miles on it.

The Ford straight 300cid/4.9L is a good dependable engine. I had a couple dozen or so of them in Ford delivery vans back in the day. But still not as dependable as the 2.7L Tacoma engine.

Question is, did they increase the bed width between the wheelwells to be able to fit 4x8 sheets flat?

Highly unlikely. They didn’t increase the overall width of the truck. You can do the math.
Only change I’ve seen noted was a slight increase in bed depth.

I wish there was a truck the size of the gen 1 Tundra. Full size trucks are stupid big now.

I believe they said the bed is exactly the same footprint as the 3rd but 1 inch deeper.
