I should be taking delivery of a 2023 DCSB in the next week or two. I have a canoe that I'd like to throw on a rack. I don't like the roof racks so I'm looking for a 2-section bed rack. It seems they are hard to find in cab-height that would allow me to walk the canoe up and onto the rack without scratching the roof or hanging up on the antenna. Does anyone know of any options? I like the off-road look of the overland racks, but I'm more intrigued by the price of the Tracrac ladder rack (but I'm not a fan of the way most ladder racks stick way above the roof). Any ideas of where to look? My searches aren't turning up many options.

That just might do it. Especially since it comes in the 22". I'm trying to find some pictures of the 22" bars in relation to the cab to see how high they stick up. I might go this route anyways, however, because I love the Bakrack on my current truck and plan to get one at some point for the Tacoma.

We absolutely LOVE our UpTop Truss rack. Thing is super versatile and built like a tank:

I'm considering this setup on my truck. One of the few that will work & allow the cover to open with a trifold bed cover.

Working with an awesome retractable aluminum bed cover is one of the main reasons we went with our UpTop Retrax bed Truss

How much of the bed space does that take up when it is retracted?

I went with the BakFlip MX4, a trifold. I wasn't willing to give up storage space for a retractable. I prefer the looks of your rack that follows the line of the cab. Many racks say they will work with a cover if it sits inside the bed but I need to open mine all the way up on occasion. Very limited choices for a trifold hard cover, I need vertical posts for mine.

There's a canister in the bed, close to the cab. They take up about a foot of space, but there is room under the canister, so it's not a big loss.

The VRS is built from the ground up to work with tonneau covers. All types of covers, including retractables and the MX4, and the Revolver, among many others.

With the longer 6' bed the room the tannue canister takes up is actually moot, as I can get a full portable ARB air compressor, jumper cables and a set of GoTreads (and that is with a bed rug too, which came later, not pictured here but does fit)
However, if you have the 5' bed (which for me would have been a near pointless purchase) I can see not going the retractable route.

But with the posts leaning in, you can't open a trifold with rack on. I have the Backflip MX4

I went from a 6 ft on my 2009 to a 5 ft on my new truck. Trust me, I'm struggling!

This comes in long bed tacoma also? Steel and Aluminum? And it works without a tonneau cover? Everything needed to install is included with the cross bars?

Correct, it works with tri-fold covers, just not ones that relocate the accessory rail. There are no available racks (to my knowledge) that can be installed with your cover that will allow it to fold open.

In comes in steel and aluminum, long bed and short bed (short bed only for steel).

    Works with and without covers.

Everything needed to install is included.

    Even with relocated rails?
