    I wish I could grow in the ground but the soil here is horrible - mostly rocks and impermeable clay that somehow turns to spongy mush when it rains enough..

    We've had that issue here before too. The ground was quite inhospitable when we moved in years ago. Lots has been done to correct it and now we have some really nice spots with dark fertile soil.

    My dad has taken to studying and researching how to change soil for fun. :cool:
