This is my friend's Leo 23.

Used to help him when I was younger when I wasn't working
Now I'm just the recipient of all that free wood

That oak was completely rotten down to 4 feet or more below grade. All that held it in place was 8-9 inches of wood around the trunk.
Damn lucky it didn't fall on either house

I just recently got a pair of Irish Setter Work Men's Mesabi Steel Toe boots. I am very impressed how comfortable these boots are while working in the woods. They do feel a bit goofy working on pavement to me, but that is likely because I am used to wearing lower arch boots like wedge sole boots.

I have no idea for long term durability but they seem fine so far.

How important is using ethanol free gas? I have a Husqvarna 460 that I recently got and I want it to last a long time. I have been using the husqvarna premix but the cost adds up.

Extremely important. A lot of people recommend only using the premix stuff. I have 2-stroke dirtbikes so I mix my own with high quality oil and ethanol free gas.

Noted. I was looking into mixing my own but I cant find a source near me that is cost effective.

I read a comparison of various mix-gas blends, and TrueFuel (sold by HD and Lowes) was of poor quality.

You don't have non-Ethanol gas anywhere near you? That's unfortunate.

Down here, a gallon of non-E gas and bottle of Stihl oil combined about 1/2 the cost of premix.

Been looking into Logger boots. Good to know they aren’t great on pavement.

I wouldnt go far as to say theyre bad on pavement. I just am not used to that type of boot and on pavement I notice it but in the woods its great and I dont.

No not really, I can get 5 gallon pails but they are $80-$130 which isnt a significant cost savings over premix. I am using Husqvarna premix but I would think VP would be good quality too

Airports for general aviation (small planes) will have non-ethanol gas. Not cheap, but non-ethanol

White Smoke Jumper’s. I bought a set of White’s over 25 years ago. They are spendy but worth every penny. I’ve climbed in them, logged in them, landscaped countless hours in them, and the have gone on every hunting trip I’ve been on during that time. The arch support is top notch. I will buy another set soon and at my age they will be the last pair of boots that I buy. If you don’t need the extra heel depth for climbing hooks they do make a shorter heel in a non insulated boot for less. Good luck.

I have Nick's Boots. They are worth every penny especially if you work in them everyday. I heard that the White's are now machine made unless you special order them. You still pay the handmade price but receive a mass produced boot. Fortunately for me they're both local to me. I can't say enough good things about Nick's. I love that they're rebuildable.
