If you go smaller, I have a couple idler pulleys already machined for a wrap mod. But for 2.7, I think there wasn't enough deflection and tension for my set up so I removed it.

Anyone know the part number or where to get a replacement o ring or D ring for the supercharger snout to intake end circled in picture?

why did you have to flash it back to stock? did you get flagged due to the tune? or do you mean back to the trd tune then back? I smogged mine with @JustDSM finest. Only change I did was replace the FPR mod and needed to reverse tune for that so i could do the visual.

Didn't you have to go do the "enhanced" test too? I thought you got flagged or something. Perhaps my memory is a bit hazed..

I did but I think that was just from being S/C from last year. I went to my brothers but i guess i had to do a CA STAR smog all the time but i never got my notice.

I went in with your tune minus FPR and swapped my Throttle Body back in but no tune change.

california smog requires the vehicle being on stock/factory tune. which kinda requires me having the stock tune on hand with which to flash it....

feel like ive been going round and round about this specific thing for a while now, its basically the last thing im waiting on since the cats in the headers on my truck are still intact therefore it should pass. the downstream cats arent even monitored, i think, so my downstream cats uh not being there any more shouldnt be a problem xD

yah I am in CA as well. You will almost 100% get flagged on the secondary cats.

Regarding the tune, for the S/C there technically is not "factory" tune so the tune should not matter. If your supercharged the TRD or bully are the "stock or carb approved tunes" tunes but many of us Californians have smogged with HP Tune tunes. I did end of last year.

Visually they are going to get in there and look for all of your O2 sensor including the rear ones. My guy was under there with a mirror and flashlight. Some look for codes. My guy seemed to just care that the O2s were still there and likely more picky because of the S/C.

He took my word for a few items when he was poking around the fuel system but did not make a big deal over anything else.

They did make me do an extra step where he pushed the gas down in different intervals and said that they do not always ask that but whatever the BAR notes when its hooked up.

i see. my truck is supercharged with a magnuson but it didnt come from the factory with it. so i'm assuming its gonna need the plain jane factory N/A tune? or no, since theres a carb approved boosted tune?

i need to make sure i have what i need before i go, i dont wanna have to go down there and deal with this multiple times xD

Wrong. The Magnuson supercharger is the same as the “Toyota TRD” one that is a DEALER INSTALLED option. These never came from the actual factory with them.

So with that, the dealer installation came with a CARB approved tune specific for the stock truck with CARB approved supercharger and parts that came with it. You modify, remove cats, etc, then you’re not CARB approved. For the version that doesn’t have the TRD logo cast into the aluminum itself, you had the option of (or forced) to go with the Bulldog tuner, which is also CARB approved.

If you never had your ECU flashed to the “TRD tune” for the supercharger and you’re not using the BullyDog tuner, then you can question if you’ll pass.

You are good there. technically none of them came factory even TRD (added after delivery).

I have the Magnuson. The bully tune is the CARB one for Magnuson but most run the TRD tune. Honestly whatever tune is on there now you should be fine with. I wouldn't bother changing it. Depending who had it you will want to see if they changed it or if they have the FPR mod (which requires tun and routing the vacume line differently. the tune wont flag but it may fail visual.

You DO NOT need the N/A factory tune in order to smog the truck.

Sounds like he bought it and its "tuned" but were not sure what the tune is. The tune is less of what I would worry about and be more worried about missing cats.

You will want a CARB EO sticker or rather you NEED the CARB EO. You can get a TRD one easily or I would look under the hood and see if they slapped it on somewhere. I have mine on my airbox but most put it on the hood or to the side. It will say Magnuson and ave a serial number. this would be the first step.
    1. check for CARB EO sticker
    2. Confirm and correct any visual checks in the engine bay, Throttle Body, Flashy pulleys, Injectors etc.
    3. Intake must have CARB EO, TRD and a couple others qualify here.
    4. Find some factory rear cats. You will also want to see what they did to make the ECU happy here if they have SIMs of if they modified the Tune. This would need to be corrected as well.
    5. After all that if all the monitors pass see if you can find a place to do a once over visually. I told them that a lot of shops wont touch it due to being S/C and wanted to see if they had any issues. Once he said yah lets do it we did the smog after.

If you have any photos of the engine bay we can point out any red flags. So far the only thing is the secondary cats. thats an instant fail.

Man, what a mess it is to get smogged. But if I lived in Cali I know I’d be good with you guys.

I'm a little late to the party, but if you're tuned with @JustDSM you'll be fine. I've had to take mine in a few times already and it has always passed with flying colors.

yah its a shit show and they take all the fun away. I have been hopefully sitting on a set of DT shorty's that are in "pending smog approval" but its been that way for almost 10 years. At this stage its likely been abandoned since SEMA now seems to offer expedited approval programs. DT told me they have not heard back from them but prob DOA at this point.

Every 2 years we have to hold onto things or do shit to get it to pass. and even then it may not.

I smogged with the OVT tune on my truck along with a few things that usually wouldnt pass visual (fpr mod, larger TB, TRD gen1 intake, catch can, etc)

I did switch out my urd y-pipe for stock. This is 100% fail if you don't.

My truck passed without any trouble from the tech. I didnt know the tech nor the shop.

Heck, I even had my daily beater ('07 accord) pass at a star station and it had an aftermarket cat since the stock one was stolen.
