.....I mean if you're looking for guys to help with r&d on this secret project....I have mid travel on 35s with dual lockers, (plan to have a dual case in the next year), live 30m from rubicon, am not particularly nice to suspension and would love to help test some new steering options....:anonymous:

I will keep you in mind when I'm ready to start work on it. I've got to finish a few things up first before then, but depending on how the steering rack holds up it could be sooner than I think.

I would recommend against hanging a sackit or trasharoo directly off the tailgate.
Did that with my sackit and it basically wet sanded the paint on that part of my tailgate. So it's really scuffed up now. I'm sure it'll buff out, but I haven't gotten around to it yet or really cared enough.
Now if you did a matte wrap or something over the paint, that would protect it if you care about your paint at all lol

Wanna be racecar gotta get racecar parts :bananadead:

That has been the one minor thing I've worried about. The truck needs to be repainted anyways, but I'd like to keep the paint as nice as possible.

Do you not have a rear back seat platform? That'll help a TON with storage.

I haven't had rear seats in years.

You can cover the tailgate paint with 3m paint protection film too.

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=3m+paint...&hydadcr=7498_13278793&ref=pd_sl_1db8dgy476_e

    Or buy some vinyl wrap.

Nope. I've always left the rear seats in. Also have no idea where I'd put the back seats when they're out of the truck.

I thought about it, but I'm not entirely sold of the tailgate trash bag idea. Might get something that will just stay at camp.

ah well. You need to try it. I put about the largest platform I could back there. It's glorious. Dogs love it too. Held down by the rear seat bolts and then the way I strap the fridge down locks it down. But even when I don't have the fridge its solid.

One of the best mods I've done to the double cab by far.

I dig that. Definitely going to have to look more into that one day when I have somewhere to put my backseats

For rock crawling, it's fine. Can't complain. Flex is still great and the ride isn't too bad. Trying to go fast isn't that much fun with 4 inches of up travel

Eh I don't think it's the uptravel that's killing it, the Dakars just aren't progressive and blow through the travel super easy regardless of travel numbers.

That's also true. Even with the Icons, the truck always blown through suspension travel.

Springs carry weight, shocks control movement. Needs more compression valving then if it’s blowing through the travel.

I'm sure more compression valving would definitely help. The dakars aren't very progressive.

CBI sliders, ADS extend travel with compression adjuster coil overs, 9” Bilstein 5125 rear shocks, Icon Tubular UCA, Alcan custom leafs, All Pro Apex bumper and skids, NWTI rear diy bumper, 295/70/17 Cooper St Maxxs and nitro 4.88s.
That and they are completely flat, so they aren’t doing a great job support the weight anymore.

Go fast was my main concern, thanks.
I have dakars on the truck now, if they worked for ya at speed I was gonna just do shocks and shackles.

Coil springs are linear and seem to work just fine for go fast :)
