Ahh, okay, that makes sense. We're on the same page. At the end of the day, we both would like our airbags to work. It is weird OP and I have '23s and one has the recall and one doesn't.

Maybe it has to do the plant is was manufactured? Maybe what month it was made.

I only respond to recalls when I get formal notification in a letter, not by playing around inserting the VIN in a website.

I assume you have a few years of Toyota Care free maintenance that came with the sale? If so have them check the truck to see if it's under the recall on the first visit if you haven't received a letter about it.

I am not worried about the recall I was just saying the speed of the recall after buying it. This is the quickest I ever received the recall.

Probably... I bought mine in December of '22. So, whatever the math is on when and where they made it. Mexico I think. I had an Outback for a short time before this truck and always thought it was funny it was made in Indiana. I'd always sarcastically tell people.. I BUY AMERICAN! You should too. USA! USA! Of course American made is ideal, but I tend to spend my money on things that have a proven track record of reliability, regardless of where they come from.

Well I just got a letter from Toyota last week about a voluntary service campaign on my 2020 Tacoma. It's for the high pressure fuel pump. Seems that some pumps have developed a leaky seal or something. The letter says if you smell fuel under the hood or being pulled in to the cabin by the heat and AC system you should take it to the dealership service department for them to inspect and replace the pump. The service campaign is good for 10 year from the first date the vehicle was in service and unlimited mileage.

I'm not at all worried because I've not noticed anything so far and if I do well they will fix it. I put the letter with the owners manual for future reference if needed.

Thanks for mentioning this! I got one too and also put it in the back of the manual. The way I remember reading it they will only do the service if the vehicle shows symptoms, so it’s not preventative like the 3rd brake light one. Was that how you interpreted it?

Yes. The letter clearly stated to only bring the vehicle in if you smelled fuel.

Also noted that the fuel odor is most prominent at vehicle startup.

Yes that is how I understood the problem and how Toyota would take care of it. I also think 10 years is a good amount of time for them to cover it. Though that said they do say the average age of cars on the road is something like 12 -14 years. If you keep it that long you might be faced with a repair bill for it.

It's timing, 2023's have been in the lots since Nov 2022 and are the last year of the 3rd gen run. There have been a few recalls through the years covering all three generations.

Did you actually receive formal notification from Toyota your truck is affected by the recall? My point is anyone can collect VINs to plug into the website, you just happened to pop positive with yours.

The recall is listed on my APP and on my toyota website when I log in. Just like GM and Mopar sites will be listed there before you get a notice in the mail

As said before it's probably not something that you should worry about too much. They likely got a batch of that part that wasn't quite up to their standards. This happens just get it taken care of when the fix is available and try not to loose sleep or anything over it. It doesn't make the vehicle unsafe to operate.

I have a 2016 Tacoma that've owned for seven years and a 21 4runner SR5P. I don't have an APP or log in to the Toyota website. If I get a notification letter in the mail I take either to the dealership to get it inspected /corrected.

I don't fret about what I find out about them on websites including this one, I just drive and enjoy them. Recommend you do the same.

    Enjoy the new truck.

Enjoy your new truck. I take comfort in knowing that Toyota at least tries to keep you informed. I have received a few notifications/recalls since 2018, all taken care of by Toyota. Really happy with my truck, 73,000.00 miles and counting.
