Front brakes and rotors are up for yall. Rear brakes are now first in the queue. Happy maintaining.

Thought I was being good and followed this chart. Had my regular shop do the 60k, the fluids changed (oil, front/rear diff, trans.), spark plugs, I took care of the two filters. Ever since I am getting noticeably 2-3 mpg city, 3-4 hwy less? What gives? No less than 89 oct. fuel, sometimes 91, same tires, good psi, appropriate driving, 2018 has the self cleaning fuel injector system…..?

I've tracked my gas mileage and how it corresponds to weather for a few years. Have you been using the AC more recently? If so, that will drop your mileage.

I will be completely honest with you and say that there is not one item in this list that should noticeably alter MPGs when performed correctly. Not for better (unless previously morbidly neglected) and not for worse. Hell, I can't even think of one of these being done mildly incorrectly that could cause this. My first guess would be an improper MPG calculation on the truck's part. Use a GPS MPG app on your phone. My second guess is you somehow are running rich on fuel (burning more than needed). My third guess is a heavier-weight fluid was used in your driveline which is causing more resistance and thus less MPG, but that's very unlikely. I have performed all of these, most multiple times, and have never seen a change in MPGs. Best luck figuring it out and let us know!

Thanks, ya the thicker than usual fluid was a thought (?, not a mechanic) since I’m trying to think of any reason? Same size tires have been on before and after. I was doing 87 often, then returned to 89 for a few tanks to flush that out, and then occasional 91,…nothing. I’ll try the gps idea, just don’t understand how now the truck is calculating it wrong now. The point of change was after I had the maintenance done. Thanks for the input and idea.

Maintenance isn't always cheap insurance. If you actually do everything on those lists, and at the mileage they recommend; and if you take it to the dealer to do the work, you'll pay more for maintenance to get to 300,000 miles than you paid for the truck.

2007 DC 4X4 bought new in August 2007. Currently at 238,000 miles. I have changed the oil myself at 10,000 miles using Costco synthetic and Fram filters. New shocks and struts at 125,000 miles after unusual tire wear. The diff and transfer case oil was changed at 170,000 miles. New alternator at 180,000. New headlight housings at 235,000. The headlight housings cost me $500. Everything else above was less than $1000. I do as much as I can myself, and an independent mechanic for the rest.

New plugs and serpentine belt at 100,000 and 200,000. New rear brake pads at 200,000. Front pads have been changed 4-5 times. Still have factory drums and rotors but will need new rotors at the next brake job. Somewhere around 250,000. I've bought 5 sets of tires and 4 batteries. But all of those things are consumables.

That's it. Never touched the transmission fluid and IF it goes bad I'll have it rebuilt for less money than I'd have spent on fluid changes. The hoses are still pliable; when they go bad, I'll replace them and the coolant at that time. I plan to take it to 400,000 and would drive it from GA to California and back starting tomorrow.

Everything still works, it shifts into and out of 4X4 easily. The driver's seat is worn badly and there are some stains on the carpet and seats. There are a few dings and scratches and there is some minor paint peeling. But it still drives like new.

Poor MPG - one anecdotal experience - in my 2002 the thermostat stuck open at 210k miles and the truck wasn't reaching operating temp. Didn't really show on the dashboard gauge, but when I hooked up my scanner and watched, the temp didn't ever get above 160F, so it was running rich all the time. Replaced the thermostat, mileage went back to normal. Hook up a scanner and see what the data shows.
