Planning on buying a Yamaha WR250R, I'm a newish rider.

So a dual sport, it has knobby tires.

Any feedback for these? I'm not planning on highway, mostly for scooting around my town and I'll haul it out to the trail to learn how to offroad with two wheels.

Test drove it and it feels stupid easy and forgiving to ride compared to others that I've ridden.

Is it the kind of bike you own and eventually sell later on?

Bonus points for having a place to rest the bike while I get all the straps ready.

Dual sport 250 is a great bike imho if it fits you well. Not too much power but also has enough to get out of its own way when needed. I wouldn’t worry about tires too much yet, I’m guessing it’ll be a while before your skills outpace the tires.

Owning and selling later on depends on your situation. I’d say 90% of situations you’ll want more, but it’s a great second bike to have for trails or around town studf

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
That’s a great bike, and you wouldn’t be disappointed.

I will give you some advice as a new rider. Eyes forward, and keep focused on where you wanna go at all times. Your bike will always veer/turn the direction your looking…so if you going in a little too hot…remember stay focused and keep eyes on the line, don’t stare off into that tree or guard rail, cause that is where you will go if you focus on that stuff.
    Other than that…..Brapppp

absolutely, otherwise I would def need an extension and not having one keeps stuff pretty solid.

    this is the only downside:

But with a plastic cover it gives me a softer reminder it’s there before I smash shins

Bad day yesterday. I was so tired after work in the heat that when I was parking the Versys and trying to get it on its center stand I dropped it on my wife's car. :(

    upload_2023-7-16_6-27-42.png

I also snapped my mirror off.

She doesn’t care and is insisting I don’t fix it but it’s bothering me.

    That's awesome!

Maybe she figures she's about due for a new ride, so she is helping it along?

In any case, are you going to get another stock mirror, or do you plan to upgrade to something aftermarket? If/when I smoke a mirror I plan on the Doubletake mirrors.

Her car only has ~82k miles so a lot of life left, but she’s also not a car person and doesn’t really care.

I just bought some mirrors for $20 off Amazon that look like regular replacements.
