K&N air filter

Just looking to replace my oem filter under the hood, is there any benefits?

I stick with an OEM type filter.

lot of videos on YouTube also to compare. Some small gains with less particles filtration so pro and con in some circumstances

I don't believe in oiled filters personally. Very few actually maintain them properly and the idea is you clean and oil them and "pay less" long term. Just buy oem filters as needed.

My buddy had the trd type k&n air filter in his 2019 tacoma, all it did was pass more dirt, and did nothing else. I've use wix air filters on my tundra. The air intake side of the filter box was always spotless.

The 3.5 V6 Tacoma and 5.7 V8 Tundra use the same filter - your OEM filter flows more than plenty of air.

 

Hell no. Stick to the oem Toyota air filter. They are so well made. I’d never run one of those oiled filters.

 

It burned out the MAS on our Subi from oil mist hitting the heated wire, I would never use one after that.

 

What benefits are you looking for?
As mentioned, this is the same air box/filter as the big brother V8,,, not sure how much flow folks needs on a N/A engine.

 

How often are you changing out your air filter for a new one?

 

I like having the same filter for both. Little irritated the cabin air filters are different but small potatoes

 

I only put about 9k miles a year, so I check air and cabin filter every oil change (4-5k miles) and replace it and the cabin every year. Both are early and don't need it, but it's "worth it" to me to keep them clean and the truck ready for anything at anytime.
My off-road consists of gravel drives, grass, hunting type situations,,,, so I would guesstimate "moderate" on the dirty side if compare to a strictly street vehicle.

Just a rebranded or similar style as K&N.
I really don’t get the need to reinvent the wheel here; paper elements are so good and and cost effective.
Well I do get it, some just want to play and “make things better” and that’s fine too, as long is they understand it might be wasted resources and/or substandard quality/performance.

 

It is still a washable/reusable (gimmick) thing that costs 2X an OEM filter.

Get an OEM filter from your dealer or a WIX brand filter from NAPA and you will be good.
