A comparable RAV4 is about $38k and I don't think the interior is as nice. It does have some plusses like a hybrid option, though.

We were originally looking at the higher end ones around the $37k mark, but those were impossible to get in a color she liked. We aren't giving up a ton anyway. Heated rear seats, wiper deicer, head up display, and cooled front seats were the main things the higher trim has.

I ran looking at Mazda by my wife but she had her heart set on a RAV4. OTOH, my friend boughta Kona for his wife. No wonder she's always yelling at him. ;)

I really want cooled seats, that and a heated steering wheel would be my wish list. But I’m pretty much rocking a work truck, very few factory options.

My truck has both. I like the cooled seats, but don't care much about the heated steering wheel. Sometimes it even annoys me when it comes on with the remote start.

She's the opposite, she'd probably like the heated wheel but would never use the cooled seats.

Spotted another black 2nd gen with a steel bumper as well with something like "ranger" on the plate, parked in the same spot when I was on my way out.

And power brakes? Though in a way the steering wasn't working for a couple of weeks earlier in the year...intermediate shaft.

Mine don't even have the latter.

Powerful stereo though, I guess that kinda counts..

The one I don't understand the infatuation with at all is the Rogue. Half my extended family has them - they swear by them. I've ridden in them and they're like tin cans. Plus, they openly say they ditch them before 100k because the CVT will almost certainly fail if they go too far past that.

As far as how I see the rest of the segment:

Hyundais and Kias - I get it due to the warranty and price point - no experience with them other than that, but I see how those are selling points.

Domestics - Jeep, Ford, GM - eh, they're okay I guess but are noticeably lower quality than others especially given the prices.

CR-V and Rav4 - I can never respect the CR-V because I've always looked at it as the vehicle people buy when they don't care about cars and need a transportation appliance, but they're practical and have good fit and finish. Rav is a little more interesting/less of an appliance and should be of similar quality.

Subarus - I can respect. I like the Boxer engine and longitudinal drivetrain, though I firmly believe they've regressed over the years - I have a lot of friends and family with Outbacks and Foresters and the quality seems to get lower and lower as time goes on.

Then you have the Mazda, which seems to be a standout in looks, interior quality, and driving dynamics - interior space is a little smaller and fuel economy is a bit less, but not unreasonable.

Lol more power than mine probably. I know you like your tunes at least as much as me if not more.

I definitely like the Rav4, though my mom loves her Honda CR-V. Fills her needs especially being she needs something AWD to get to dialysis.

I'm at 800 watts right now..more would be fun but money..

Mazdas are appealing. My girlfriend loves hers and my buddy always has like a cx50. Comfortable rides.

Hey hos! I went to drive the Tacoma for the first time in a couple weeks and the radio is dead. Backup camera works, but just a blank screen for the radio. Anyone have this problem before?

Turn the ignition on, hold the radio power button for about 10 seconds or until the radio turns on.

Oh hey stranger lmao. I never did but my aunt did in her rav4. It was expensive to get the repair done plus it had to be shipped to some place I'm NY. Ended up trading it in a nd getting a prius lol. There are some great aftermarket options.

It's a "soft reset" that fixes some problems with Toyota/Lexus radios.
