I just installed a new upper ball joint (MOOG) on my Tacoma. In the installation process, I tore the boot. I poked through some other threads and the general consensus is to replace it. I had such a hard time pressing it in with the C-Clamp style tool, I really don't want to pull it out and put a new one in. It doesn't seem like MOOG sells a replacement boot for P/N K9025, so I am wondering if anyone has another suggestion, such as a generic replacement boot or a type of sealer. The material of the boot is neoprene, and I am wondering if anyone has tried using some neoprene cement on a ball joint boot.

Any suggestions are welcome, even if they are a bit janky.

    Where's the tear?

It's an UBJ, flex seal it!

About here. I can get a picture in the morning. It is a horizontal tear.

After cleaning with Berryman carb cleaner, I have patched the boots on aftermarket LBJs with UltraBlack and it has lasted for several years of extremely hard wheeling in the deep mud/high water here in MS. But the boots on the OEM UBJs and LBJs are much more durable than even the 555 JAPAN boots I have used. And the OEM UBJs from McGeorge are not overly expensive at approx. $100 a set IIRC.

Exactly what I was looking for thank you, I will keep that in mind when I go to replace again. Thank you!
