OP says this wont work for JBL tech and premium packages.... that rules me out.
Is there an upgrade for stock then?

Forgot to post this a month ago.

Did the tweeter upgrade and also replaced the kickers (non prem package/jbl).
    Made a huge difference.

Bought the tweeters from Amazon and the kickers from Crutchfield(provided all the necessary components).

I'll use Bluetooth audio and when I crank it to 20, it has some major bass (depends on song). Very happy with the swap.
Android Auto seems to downgrade the audio, so that is disappointing, but I made do.

I did have some issues with putting everything back together. I lost some clips holding the "sail panel", so I had to buy some replacements, so I had some ducktape hold it together for a bit. Other than that, it was smooth sailing.

I found I had to do my EQ settings for both Bluetooth and Apple car play

Ok, I'll definitely have to check that out tomorrow morning. The thought never even occurred for me to look there.

I second this. You have to change the EQ settings for every audio input individually. So bluetooth, carplay, siruis xm etc

I added the Kicker 46CST204 Tweeters last night, I upgraded the front & rear doors with Kickers a few months back. For me, it took the sound to another lever, I did have to do some adjusting to the EQ to settle down some of the treble but i can deal with that just fine.
I forgot about removing the A pillars and it cost me on the drivers side, broke 2 clips on that cover.

I just completed the tweeter upgrade with the Kicker/Subaru plug and play along with Kicker KS 6x9 Coax in the front doors. Great improvement. I will not touch the back doors as there is not enough power from the factory head to make any difference according to this forum. I have no plans to put in a amp or new head unit as my warranty is still in place. I adjusted the fade to mostly the front and adjusted the bass, tremble, and mid as needed. Sounds good to me and well worth the money.

I did this update not long after getting my sr5. I changed all my door speakers too. Everyone says in other threads to get the kicker CS series speakers but at the time I did it due to supply issues Crutchfield didn't have those. I had to choose the slightly cheaper DS or more expensive KS series. I went with the DS. They definitely were a step up from factory speakers but honestly the real improvement was when I added an Alpine power pack amp to the system.
The factory radio is fine but it just doesn't have the power to really drive the kicker speakers like that small amp does. I did set the gain on the power pack slightly higher on the rear to balance the factory bias out some.

It fit behind the radio in dash so it's very stealth.

I have the JBL system in my truck with sub. Can I still use the DS18? I hear the JBL Tacoma system speakers are 2ohm and the DS18 are 4ohm. Does it matter?

I ended up w/the Rockford sub, JBL 3.5's for the dash & Infinity 6x9 mids for the doors.

Has anybody besides the OP compared the Kicker/Subaru tweeters against the now recommended DS18? The Amazon reviews for the DS18 are somewhat negative and several say they aren’t hardly any better than stock. Leaning towards Subaru kickers.

I just installed a pair of DS-18 tweeters in my 2017 Tacoma today. I was impressed by the sound out of these. Definitely a major difference than stock IMO

I purchased these speakers for my 2020 non-jbl, and the alignment holes on the replacement speakers straight up don't fit right. The plastic wings for the sides of the speakers are too far apart.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: the plug and everything works, turned the truck on and the tweeters sound awesome. The alignment holes on the speaker are the only issue.

I just did this install today. Mine didn't line up at first either, but I realized I just had to rotate it 180 degrees so the "DS18" isn't upside down and they lined right up. It kinda twists up the stock wiring a bit, but seems fine.
