I remember remote start through the app. Worked great to melt the ice off the windshield at work before leaving one night. New truck doesn't have it though, for obvious reasons

Yeah, they are overprotective with the manuals because everybody parks in gear. In my WRX I always parked in neutral with the hand brake set. Hell, I set the parking brake on the Taco 99% of the time.

I'm guilty of that. It's always in 1st or reverse depending on the direction I'm parking... :anonymous:

That's totally fine. The only issue I had was that because I always parked in neutral, the one time I let somebody else borrow it for a quick break at work they left it in gear. When I was leaving for the day I had a butt pucker moment when I started the car and almost hit the truck parked in front of me. Cat like reflexes saved it, but I didn't let anyone else drive it after that either.

That's why I leave it in the appropriate gear. If I'm facing my garage I leave it in reverse. Backed into a parking spot, it's in first. So on, and so on.

    I'm an odd character :anonymous:

Ah, that's not what most do. Most leave it in the direction they were travelling when they parked. You are thinking ahead at least.

When I learned how to drive manual, my folks drilled it into my head to give it the stick shake before starting, and after it's started. After almost doing the same thing you did it really reinforced it for me and I never let the clutch out without a good stick shake first.

Yeah, my parents didn't teach me shit about driving, and certainly not a stick. I figured it out from other sources, and I do the stick shake as well. I just missed it the one time it would have really mattered.

If you shake it more than 3 times you're playing with it... wait... that's for something else.

Well, I found out why I have no lights in the garage. Some critter got hungry and nearly burned my damn house down.
