That body line gives the impression of a Dually to me.

That does look like a dually. I guess they were going for a trophy truck look but it looks more like a dually over fender.

They’re also just horribly bad photos taken at bad angles

I was going to say I liked the new one but not sure about the bulging finders. Once you see it you can't un see it. lol

Man what a rat race though. I ordered Gen 3 because I need a vehicle now, but hope everyone is happy with the Gen 4.

I think they will both be fine and both be in high demand for many years but in 5 years EVs might be different ball game.

That's still what the truck looks like bad photos or not. I don't hate it, but it's kind of busy as far as body lines go. That has to make PDR and body work difficult.

I can't recall where I saw a picture of the sideview mirror. Still no spotter mirror there, maybe Toyota will include spotter mirrors on production trucks or offer them as an option. It's the little things Toyota leaves out that has me scratching my head. They take the time to design these elaborate fenders on the outside, and add molle panels inside but don't add spotter mirrors on the truck.

Don’t think it is the angle of the photo…

…just poor design. Typical Toyota. They get it right once and awhile, but that is few and far between. Seems like it is contest among manufacturers of who can design the ugliest vehicles. Toyota is clearly winning that race.

It is weird the more I look at the Chevy, the more it looks like that should have been the natural progression of the Tacoma, where Toyota took it a little too far. Sure I’ll get used to it, but that kinda sucks for how much money these things command these days. Liking how it looks is part of it. Probably a bit more nit picky since have a degree in Commercial Art, and almost went into industrial design. They just needed to edit it back a couple notches. Those flares look a bit too Bushwhacker to me, surprised they didn’t throw on fake bolts for good measure.

Especially the side profile, the Chevy looks more like what the 3G Tacoma should have become.

Agreed, just like the Tundra they took it too far and I'm sure trying to get it to fit on the same platform and share similar design aspects is how we got here. I dont mind the grill, I dont mind the cab spoiler, dont mind the headlights, but they went way overkill on the fender lines, the massive fenders with air inlets (come on), the taillight intergrated into the rear is very ugly imho and wear the rear door meets the top of the cab / roof line looks terrible, its just so so so busy. I mean you can tell they wanted it to look aggressive and it does, but I dont think it will age well and its alot of plastic. I've had all gens and was excited to add a 4th gen, maybe it will grow on me but everyone besides the PRO in certain lights I'm not a fan at all.

Fake bolts? Have you seen the HVAC controls? It's not terrible but a plain round knob is fine with me.

Ya I hate the interior too, too busy, the stupid console grab handle, TRD everywhere, color dash. Someone was trying to hard.

The interior does have a wow factor. When you first see it's looks cool and exciting. Then the more you look at it the more it needs to be turned down. It's a truck no need for it to be outrageous, lots of aftermarket styling cues happening in there Gen-X went wild.

Yeah that too. It is bit overboard with the fake fasteners, don’t get me started on fake vents.

I thought the fake scoop might go away since there's a real turbo and I'm guessing functional air vents and heat extrctors.

I'm not if it can be seen in this photo.

The knobs look like stacked metal rings that are fastened together. Maybe SR will get some plain black ones instead.

it is a bit hokie, not terrible though. The top of the dash/vents reminds of exposed ductwork you see in some restaurants. Looks like a pain in the ass to keep clean, since I am the dirt an awful lot.

It does look like they were trying fit the Taco body on frame that was too wide. Flares on the Tundra look good.

One thing they teach you in design school, it needs to look good large and small. Probably be ok sitting on 35s, any less looks like it skipped leg day, whereas the 3G looks halfway decent without flares on 32-33s.

    E1AF2481-D63C-4100-A557-540C5DD571BF.jpg

The Colorado isn’t too bad without flares. Could say GM borrowed or stole design elements from the 3G Tacoma.

One of the things I could do without is the electric rear window on my 2021 OR. Have you folks noticed they changed that? Now it’s just a small portal. I much prefer the single pane of glass on the lower trims. See the maroon truck in the third pic.

Same design as the F-150 the rear glass also extends below the interior trim pieces. Can't see it that well in the photos but the cab spoiler looks like it goes on after the rear glass goes in. That will probably have to be removed to replace the glass.
