my 2023 sr5 is dripping water onto the floor Mat on passenger side. Long drive to South Carolina extremely hot here. Now I did have the fresh air system on so it wasn’t on recirculate when it started dripping. As soon as I seen the drips I turned on the recirculate and the dripping stopped within few min and was fine for the rest of the 6 hour drive. Is this an issue with these trucks? Do I need to take it to the dealer when I get home ? Thank you

I use recirculate, there’s a reason it defaults to this too; it’s more efficient to keep the dry air cool, then to pull in humid air to recondition. Same goes for building structures, they’re designed to recirculate for a reason.
    Why turn off recirculate?

Any time you’re pulling in humid air and removing moisture, there’s copious amounts of moisture and the temperature differential of that hot air versus the cold passenger mounted components.
All that said, check the drains, it doesn’t take much to plug it, and since it’s a gravity fed slow drip, there’s no force to clear itself.

This is a known issue. The a/c unit above the passenger footwell gets cold then humidity condenses on the outside of it and it drips. There may also be a crack on the unit causing the leak, which is detailed in that thread somewhere, but condensation is more common.
Definitely use recirc when you use A/C

@Chew Man, so much this… My favorite is the guys who use A/C with the windows down

Thank you . So yours never dripped? That’s prob because you always use recirculate . I guess don’t take it to the dealer?

    Never
I think it would be waste of time, but your call. I’d let it do its thing and run recirculate first,, quick n easy test.
I’m not being a wiseguy,, but still why override recirc and bring in hot humid air?

It’s condensation on outside I looked up and seen it and felt the water no cracks. So chances are they all will sweat and leak like this if recirculate isn’t used. ?

It won’t leak at all with recirculate on

I’m in Ga and mine drips almost every day when the ac is on. Doesn’t matter if it’s fresh or recirculate.

I believe it’s a design issue and sweat is the most common reason for drips. There’s a couple lawsuits detailed in that thread but I haven’t heard if any outcomes from them yet.
I’ve never had any drips but I live in Alaska so humidity and heat aren’t really an issue for me lol
There might be an issue that the dealership could fix, so if you have the time and patience it could be worth it. Definitely worth a shot if you have an extended warranty.
Check the area of your evap box detailed in this thread for a crack

Mine dripped like that once a few weeks ago on a long drive. Thought my AC drain line was clogged. I went to the dealer for regular maintenance and had them check out the issue while it was there. Said they blew out the drain line just in case but it didn't appear to be clogged. They said if it happens again they want the truck back in. I leave my air on auto set to 70 and let it do it's thing. First and last time it did dripped. Fingers crossed!

Nothing should be dripping inside the vehicle, doesn't matter what setting you're on. Check the evap drain tube or take it back to the dealer so they can check it. It may have not been installed correctly

My truck ran for 5 hours on a trip last week with the AC running on recirculate with no issues. With the 100 degree temps we've been having; if it was set to fresh air the cab wouldn't have cooled down. I will occasionally run it on fresh air to prevent any funky odors in the system.

I can imagine fresh air in our humidity could cause condensation.

I just live with it. It’s not a lot, but it is noticeable. My truck is a 2016, bought new, and it’s dripped every summer since.

Does yours drip? I assume you have only ever used recirculate ?

I have had this issue but only after going through a car wash and it’s only happened twice. Both times the AC was on in the car wash.

Indeed. It hasn’t happened in about 6 months; No idea what caused it.
