Rolled the GX over 100k on the odometer this weekend on a weekend trip to Killington, VT. Great trip but sad to see the damage they suffered from the rain.

I was between the Alchemy 135 and the Specialized frame i ended up buying. Full Alchemy build, which is a sweet set of parts, vs build from scratch to my liking. Always sort of wonder if i should have bought the Alchemy but the Specialized bike is a sweet machine. Right now, there are a lot kf great deals to be had from Ibis also, along with sales from quite a few others.

I'm glad to hear that they fixed the noise thing. I kinda dug the noise our 2016 made (and my wife liked it too coming from a tC) but I can understand how it's a negative. The fact the interiors are even nicer are appealing as I thought the 2016 "looked" premium, although I had my reservations on the seat bolster. My wife has mentioned to me more than once how much she's missing it as of late (and it was only 8 months of ownership 7 years ago!).

We have that in the JGC and outside of when it comes on with the remote start don't use it.

The big thing that the Subaru currently offers that the others in the segment does is visibility out the back. My Mom had (and hated) a 2012 Rogue that lasted only 2 years before she changed out to a 2015 Forester which got replaced by a 2019 Forester as she hated the gauge cluster.

I found the Forester very tin can and slightly boring to drive. The 2019 was definitely a step up from the 2015, but I've heard from others that the previous generation had much less of the tin can feel. She absolutely LOVES hers though and I feel like a lot of older people seem to gravitate towards it compared to younger people. My wife has borrowed it from time to time when her Jeep has been in the shop and she doesn't like it much at all.

I've never had a problem with the mechanicals of anything in the Toyota lineup (RAV, Highlander) but for whatever reason they've done nothing for me. When we bought the Mazda we checked out the entire segment and had it between the CX-5 and the CRV. The CRV was much more of an appliance (especially in the 2016 era model...they got a bit more attractive in the now previous generation) and had plenty of great features, but the CX-5 was just a bit more "driver's car" and we liked that.

I really want an M1. An AR50 would be cool but I can’t even bring that to my local range, I’d just blow holes in all their targets.
That seems like a good build. There’s only so low that makes sense to buy with mountain bikes. As long as you get good geometry and modern parts standards, that’s really all that matters. Beyond that, it’s just refinement and weight savings (within reason). I think you have a nice ride with that Orbea.

Still don't t have much of my voice left and still coughing up a storm. I sound like a 83yo that smoked for 50 years when I cough. Doctor thinks I may have scared or strained my vocal chords coughing so much. Sucks for a person who talks for a living...

Thanks, The price tag I feel like I could have gotten a good hard tail for about half the price and been good for most of what I ride

The next thing you could try is disconnection the battery.

Yeah, if you bring hardtails into the discussion, that’s different. But I have $1,500 into my hard tail, it’s a very capable machine. Not like my full squish, but it’s amazing how much abuse it will take.

I have a friend with an '18 Forester XT touring and it's definitely got the tin can issue. It has more road noise than the '16 CX-5, which was notoriously not sound deadened enough. The Forester seats are very uncomfortable too. Really annoying driver aids and safety features that can't be turned off as well. He always complains that it won't let him back up in many situations because it sees tall grass or a small slope as an obstruction.
