The dome lights should fade to dark once you step away with FOB...that's how my 2021 works.

Earlier models I can't speak to.

So, do you just turn off the dome light completely to prevent the battery from draining?

I'll have to try the stepping away with the fob trick. Hopefully that works.

I usually keep the map and dome lights off. If I need light at night I'll hit the map light. And then turn it off again before I leave the truck.

This is one of the few things i changed on mine too, 2 days in. I also changed the front headlight low & high beams to LED & also changed the turn signal bulbs to led, then i bought the LED sequential Mirror lights.

For the most part great my dad been going to them for years now the only issue I had was when I went for a oil change they broken one of the clips off the hubcap but they replace it. I had issues with the dealer in Raleigh would never do Business with them again.

Just completed the bed lights, Spiker Engineering Hood struts, matte black overlays, gloss black TRD repro 17" wheels with Falken 265/70/17 AT3's, gloss black wheel lugs... all added to my new 2023 Wind Chill Pearl White Limited.

TRD Pro grille and Hellwig rear sway bar next in line, as time allows...

Funny, I'm thinking of doing that too. I'll wait a bit and see how this goes first.

Works pretty well so far! Reads CDs, MP3, etc. and retains all functionality of the truck stereo almost like stock. As in:

Pop CD in. Wait a few secs for it to commit to USB. Set audio source to USB.

You can use center console audio page to change songs, etc. Also can use the steering wheel controls for everything as you normally would and it shows up in the audio screen in the instrument cluster.

If you get a call on BT, the unit also goes on mute while you take the call then comes back up when you end the call. When you start the truck, audio is off til you press the power button (I prefer this way so its not blaring when I first take off in the morning).

All in all, seriously one of the best approx $70 I've spent.

I wonder if there is a downside to that over the standard. I’ve also wondered if they were going to make a flip cover now they have.

i'm really happy to hear that it works for you!

oem usb ports can be really finicky with what actually works with it, usually with more things not working than working!

Wish there was a way to get the copy cats listings pulled... I mean at least come up with a different name if you're going to steal someone's idea and sell it....:annoyed:

    not for me.

run 'tech support' for long enough in any family, and you'll quickly learn that it's easier to make things work the way people expect, than to try to make them re-work their systems to a new expectation.

You can load stuff on top of it but not install any of their rack systems on top of it.

That looks good! Been debating on that or the Tacoma lifestyle one which is dark smoke. Still hesitant bc of the leaking issues, if you swap it they definitely won’t warranty cover it anymore
