I hope those of you in the southwest are safe and cool. I sure hope the A/C knocks down the temp. It’s only 103 in northern utah which is hot but of course could get worse.

For 8 years my Nest thermostat has needed no attention. This last week the battery discharged. I looked at replacing the battery but broke it when attempting. I bought a new Nest. They must have down some software upgrade because me and the rest of he world all of a sudden has the thing using more power than it charges. I don’t have a ground wire and running one would be a challenge. I’m going to put in a $25 power connector tomorrow. If that doesn’t work I’m steeling the fan wire and repurposing it as the common to give it constant power.

Stay cool and be safe in the heat. Have a good rest of the weekend.

I guess if you live close to the Cal. Nev border it is not to bad, but further west could mean a longer drive. Bringing ammo across the state line in small quantities probably isn't a problem. Do you remember the LCB in PA? People used to go over the bridge into NJ and load up on alcohol. One or two bottles np problem but the LCB people would look for the people buying cases of alcohol. They would nail them once they came across the river back into PA. Fortunately pricing has gotten better in PA. If this past winter in PA is a sign of the future you will be moving back to PA. They had a very mild winter (from what I ,heard as I wasn't here) .

Yep my wife told me all about going over the border to buy booze. I think where she lived they use to go to Maryland to stock up. The winter here was unbelievable. So much snow they were snow skiing through July 4th. They just got one mountain pass open a few days ago. The lakes and reservoirs are over flowing with water. I just mentioned to her that Pa had a mild winter, maybe we should consider moving back, she gave me the “look”.

Here is some expensive but fun ammo. I like 9mm, there are a couple carbine options for 9mm. I have the hi-point carbine cheep but on with a red dot. I've hit the center rings at 100yrds and put it on steel at 200. They have it available in 380, 9, 40, 10mm and 45. So you can have a pistol and a longer barrel that take the same round.

Pella are descent, their clad option is heavy. Aluminum os wood interior that big one could be over 350 in the frame. We use to rate the weights for glass and frame for every 1'x2' of insulated glass 10 lbs but for that size if within 15 " of the ground. It would have had to be tempered and possibly 3/16" plate increasing the weight well over 400lbs.

Anyone interested the company is HSL Ammo. They are located in St. George Utah. They do ship. Their on hand stock changes daily and their website is updated daily to show what they have and what is out of stock. I have fired well over 3000 of their rounds (9mm, 38 spl., 357 mag) and not one hiccup, misfire, or failure to feed. I visit the St. George area at least once a year and stop by to say howdy to the guys there. A great group of guys. They offer discounts to first responders and veterans, at least in person they offer discounts I don’t know about by mail. There are a few states they don’t ship to, California being one of them.

Martin: I spent a week in Phoenix for the Labor Day week one-year about 14 years ago. The coolest is got down to was 99 degrees one evening. I had to properly learn how to keep hydrated. I was outdoors and a trouble shooter for the new contract conversion, I was in IT and knew a lot about voice, data, and video conferencing. The heat out there is just insane. Here in the DC area we might hit 100 degrees every now and then. Our equalizer is the humidity, just makes it tough when you are outside in the heat and humidity. Honestly I o not know how the persons in that part of the country do the outside jobs.

Good morning. Today is phone call day, need to call the dentist, ear doc and the VA. Cooking up a rack of ribs, homemade baked beans and Mac & Cheese for dinner. I noticed a lot of us are wood workers. I am having a rough time removing a laminate from a winged wooden cart. The laminate came off the wings really easy but the center top is a OITA. Any tips would be appreciated.

Good morning everyone. We have had a cool spell but the heat returns later this week. However 72 seems perfect. 82 is normal average this time of year. Went to the walk-in yesterday because my better half didn't like the looks of a bug bite. I have no clue what got me but it had a oval 1x1 3/4" red spot that itched and with about a 5" area that hurt Like hell. I was going to wait till today. But the antibiotic is working. They said they have had identical bites come in and wondering if I seen what got me. I didn't.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Susan! They say we are shooting for an Austin record of 108* today - usually a degree or to cooler (which is NOT the right word) here in Lockhart. Doesn't much matter I suppose. Try to keep things to simple putz and pool today.

Hope none of you Pennsylvanians were impacted by those sudden floods in the Eastern area. That looked like Texas flash floods!

    Have a great week, everyone!

Just an FYI for anyone that is interested in waxes and ceramic coatings. I have tried out torque brand products and find them to be excellent and reasonably priced. Most importantly they are super easy to apply and the shine and water repelancy is amazing. After treating my truck with their redline shine ceramic I have driven it in 3 rainstorms and everything slides right off! Hardly any dirt even. I just used there detail spray and a clean microfiber towel to dry wash it. No need to even break out the hose, amazing! You can cover everything inclthe glass and plastic. Truck looks great. Now I'm waiting for the tire treatment to arrive so I can try that out.
But 2 thumbs up for their ceramic products. If you catch the redline shine on sale you'll save some money, if it's not on sale or discounted it's a bit pricey. But it works, claim to be good for 2 years, yeah we'll see about that, lol.
