Just seems odd that it’s designed that way I wonder if owners Manuel warns of this issue

    Not specifically.
Again, unless someone's bean burrito is bangin', I am not sure why you want to bring in hot humid air and bring down both, rather recirculate not so hot humid conditioned air.
I have read condensation on this system before, I am wondering if the drainage on this system is barely adequate (of course an actual crack/leak aside). Or could be it is not insulated as well too- think of how a red solo cup with an ice cold drink will sweat in the heat, but a double walled insulated tumbler, not at all.

Very interesting thank you. I’m thinking they just aren’t designed well. Again though id imagine they all will drip if operated in very hot humid conditions when selected to fresh air mode. It was 85-93 degrees humid the entire trip to South Carolina

Mine does the same on drives longer than 1 hour. I took it to the dealer and had them look at it. I have the Toyota extended warranty. After a couple of days, the service advisor called back with a tech on the line. They said it was a known issue & design flaw. They could fix it, but it was not covered by the warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket for them to modify the box under the dash. Now if I am going to be on a long drive in the summer, I use recirculating until the last 15 minutes of the drive. Luckily I have husky liners, so if it drips it doesn’t get on the carpet.

So yours does not drip on recirculate mode correct? That’s how mine is. If I put on fresh air it drips within 30min or so

So guess what at the resort I’m staying at a guy pulled up with his 2018 tacoma and we got to talking and I asked him about the drip from the a/c he said yup his does same thing. Said it only drips when on fresh air mode lol so we got to talking. Said he it was so funny I asked because he was looking online too. Everyone is saying design flaw run it on recirculate anything about 75 degrees.

Interesting, as I mentioned, I have had heard this grip before.
I have never had the problem, but I just turn on the AC and go,, I never found a need to override the default settings.
I am only guessing here- but, I would think the dealer is going to tell you the same, if you were to take it in. Not that they shouldn't look in to this, but if it is widespread,,, there is no quick and immediate fix.

Agreed. I’m gonna pull the glovebox and pieces of dash to access hvac box and seal up any seams with black rtv sealant just for kicks and I’ll always run it on recirculate

i've tried everything to fix this. still drips. and sometimes it drips in the corner behind the mat so it does get the carpet wet and starts to smell musty which is awful. really annoyed that Toyota does nothing to fix this problem. the dealership even sealed up the box with RTV but it still drips. drain line is clear. what's the problem?? is the system undercharged?

It drips even with recirculate on? Have you tried sealing up the hvac box?

yea, if i'm getting in and out of my truck a lot it does drip with recirculate on. i know it's condensation but how come other vehicles don't have this issue even with only using fresh air mode?

It must be condensation building up. That really sucks. Toyota won’t do anything about it?

Why don’t you pull the glovebox and surrounding trim to get access to the whole hvac box and get black rtv sealant and seal it yourself. ?
