Took the truck to the local dealer for the last of the free oil changes, and asked them check the rear locker since I couldn’t engage it the last time I tried (a few weeks ago).

I was a bit surprised when they were done and he told me they couldn’t get it to engage and would replace it.

18,800 on the clock and new locker on the way.

No real purpose for the post, just throwing it out there.

never heard this one before, but good to hear they are taking care of it/you.
It takes a little zig-zaggin' to get the R and L side lined up,,, I question weather they have even used these often and/or in the real world.

Had they balked or tried to charge me to check it, I was planning to use a test I found on TW to see what I could find.

I assume, but have no idea if true, their manuals have a test procedure for these things.

Although it may explain costs of new vehicles, if they didn’t try to lock it with something other than pushing the button and hoping it locked.

    Honestly?
If it works fine (not saying it does), I'd rather have an OE built rear axle, then some (not all!) dealer techs monkeying with it. I know some personally that are brilliant and can fix anything, and they have some coworkers that still need their mom to write their name in their underpants (not referring to age,,, rather mental capacity).

    Glad it's covered under warranty.

I wonder how many 4x4 owners out there rarely engage the systems which may cause issues down the line. I've only "needed" 4LO once or twice, but only because I've purposely put myself there. Most other times when I'm on a dirt road I occasionally drive on, I'll engage 4HI just to exercise it.

I do the same thing! I use them, so they stay working, AND so I am somewhat familiar with how they work and engage BEFORE I need them to work.

I do as well. I use my drive to work to exercise 4H several times a month but have fewer chances to use 4L and the locker. Maybe I should change that…
