Great. I have my A/C annual service on July 17!

 

Zach brought me his 2016 SR5 4 cylinder automatic this morning. He was frustrated by the erratic shifting and laggy throttle. Flashed his truck with out Lite KDMax Pro v10 tune and had him take the truck for ride. His words to be upon his return:

“Honestly, I was expecting it to be much LESS drastic change.”

Needless to say, he left very happy! And that’s what this is all about in the end!

 

What is an approximate cost of an initial tune or does it require a secret handshake to get an answer? In my case, ‘20 OR with 6M .

 

Generally $400-$450 depending on travel distance for most vehicles.

2020-2023 4Runners are an additional $100 due to increased licensing costs imposed by VFTuner.

 

Thanks. Why would the travel distance figure into the price?

 

That would depend on the individual tuner. I’m in upstate NY, and it’s a very large area to cover. So if I make a long drive to tune a single vehicle, I have to offset some of the travel expenses (fuel and vehicle wear and tear). If I’m hosting an event, then any travel surcharge is waived. Not all tuners will handle these things the same, so it’s best to consult the tuner covering your specific area for definitive pricing.

Dave @Stoney Ranger drove to Northern Wisconsin to meet me this morning and have KDMAX Pro 10.0 with sport throttle flashed to his 2018 SR5 4x4 4Runner. He was all smiles after his test drive and noticed the increased throttle response and improved shifting as soon as he pulled out of the parking lot. Thanks for making the journey, Dave. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts after your drive back to Southern WI. I'll be in North Central Wisconsin for the next few weeks and available for tuning so please reach out if you are in the area, have a Tacoma or 4Runner and want to experience the KDMAX Pro difference. I did a DYI tune when got my initial tune v9. What does it cost me to upgrade to v10. Apologies if this as already been covered.

Yeah we kind of don't like that hang. We're not even going up hill. Just through our neighborhood at 25mph at 2100rpms have to do 31mph for it to change gear. Pretty annoying

 

We have the shift points set for the best power and best MPG's. This happens to be 2000 rpm. It is the "sweet spot".
If you like your truck to stay at a lower RPM, let us know and we will put it there- it is no problem. But know that it will lose both power and MPG's lugging at low rpms.

 

I can attest to this fact. I ran an early 4-5 shift for several thousand miles and although good while in low speed driving situations I went back to a normal tune (Pro 9.0 at the time). I found the power loss most noticeable while entering on ramps for interstate driving and passing.

The Pro 10.0 shift points have been optimized for better overall driving while in town, country or interstate driving. I find it to be the perfect mix at this point.
