I think its funny the everything black look. Guys keep talking about the murdered look or whatever. Even Grandma and Grandpa are murdering their mini vans these days. Once in a while I will see a Tacoma done right in black but most of the time its every other Tacoma looking like the next. I'm glad fads pass.

My 2016 black sport has just enough shiny things on it including the grill. In the last seven years I have lost count of the times strangers have told me "Nice truck".

I think it's an age/fad thing. I liken it to socks. When I was a kid, everybody wore white socks. Why? Because old men wore dark colored or black socks. With shoes, sneakers, whatever. You weren't going to be like an old man, you wore white socks whether they were tube socks or ankle hi. As of the last 10-20 years 'kids' wear black socks because they don't wanna be like dad or grandpa wearing white socks. Same thing with chrome. Man don't be like dad or grandpa, strip that chrome and go black. lol
Whatever you like is fine. It does make me laugh, though. Some of the black wheels make me double take. Some are nice, I get it. But some look like old junk yard, crash up derby, flat black wheels to me. I recently drove a 2018 TRD OR around Alaska. The guy put a TRD Pro grill on the front. First one I saw up close, was anxious to see. I went to grab it and check it out and just LOL! What a cheap POS! Now the TRD Sport grill is just cheap plastic but it has a little bit of stiffness to it. This TRD Pro grill was a cheap flimsy piece of plastic you'd think a stiff wind would crack. I agree, fix up your fashion. Just don't waste money putting on cheap stuff. At my age I learned there are two expenses in life, lodging and transportation. Lodging is an appreciable asset, invest your money wisely there and get a return on your investment. Transportation is a depreciable asset. Spent what you have to to get the job done and be comfortable. Every dollar beyond that is a flush down the toilet. Money spent is money lost, you'll never get it back. I'd have no problem with chrome if they offered. It's a nice accent. But they don't. Definitely not spending to change it.

I think it already passed. Around here, we’ve moved on to the corny matte color wraps. Those hi-undies and key-yas look like race cars,,, pretty Koo!

I dont like chrome but also I left my tacoma on the doors and v6 on the back as is since 2017. I actually kinda like that I left it that way now because it seems different then just getting the amazing black covers. Now the chrome on the air vents, cupholder, shifter knob, and steering wheel is different. After a couple years and the chrome just looked old and scratched up I had to change it.

I leave it chrome when it's shiny and new then after say 5 yrs it goes black.
Did that with a '79 Sportster, my '01 Tacoma and now it's the '16's turn.
    I can stomach a little.
    Too much is nauseating.

Base 2017 SR Tacoma with painted bumpers upgrade. All that TacomaWorld chrome nobody wants found its way to my truck. Thanks guys! I got the chrome mirror covers in the bed for when the red ones get nicked up. Would like to add a TRD Sport hood eventually. I like things shiny. I'm 64 and that glare doesn't hurt my eyes. Chrome surrounds on the interior door handles were not installed yet when picture was taken. Its not driven in the winter. Just had my truck Ceramic Coated this past week...

Guaranteed for lifetime....it made it look even better than the old pictures I posted today. It gave it more depth in color...hard to explain...

IT LOOKS BETTER NOW THAN WE I BOUGHT IT NEW LAST JULY.

:rofl:Chrome has a purpose other than being decorative. Chrome is a very hard durable plating. Back in the day you could stand on the steel chrome bumper and not worry about scratching it. Never had to worry about rock chips etc. and just clean it with steel wool. I can't even lean on on my cool blacked out grille and painted bumper without cracking it. That being said, the only chrome I have on my Tacoma is in the headlights.

You'll see less chrome on vehicles in California shortly... state government legislation is underway by year 2027 to ban the chrome plating process...

I think plastic chrome is tacky - I debadged and replaced outside chrome with red accents inside chrome plastic with black plastic.
Also I think fake wood is lame and really tacky - OK fake is fake I get it but I'll take the fake carbon fiber wrap over the fake wood.

I don't hate chrome, but found the OEM chrome grill was a poor choice for Toyota to put on an Off Road model. Had them put on the Heritage (PRO) grill as part of the purchase. Lucky for me, they packaged the chrome grill up in a box and I sold it within a few months for $75

Then I plasti dipped the side Tacoma door emblems and simply removed the rear V6 tailgate emblem. As far as the interior chrome bits, I'm fine with them being there.
