Good stuff, thank you. For now, I ordered glass/55w aftermarket assemblies. I’ll keep an eye out for OEM ones, as I do t even know if the aftermarket ones are waterproof.

It now makes sense why the 2012 OR’s (I previously owned) out put was way better, and I couldn’t figure it out till I read about the SR5’s plastic/19w set-up. Looking forward to an overall improvement in night driving. :hattip:

Aftermarket OEM replacement halogen light assemblies can be a crap-shoot, not typically up to the refinement and pattern quality as OEM. I'd suggest watching the 3rd Gen marketplace section for someone that took off their 16-19 H11 units for some aftermarket LED assemblies. They can usually be had pretty cheap. I believe the lenses are still plastic though. All 12-15 had the wide angle H11 fogs. I believe the mounts slightly changed for 3rd Gen though.

Yes, exactly, have a radar in that forum.

Yes, I remember when I turned on the fogs on the 2012, damn, it was noticeable. Must have for sure.

Are we allowed to advertise in this sub? My upgrade is complete and the factory housing are collecting dust lol.

Here is a screen gab from my factory TRD fog assembly with an osram fogbreaker 55 watt vs the DD ss3 max I upgraded to.

You sure about that? The pod bodies are not alike. The output and power specs do not match between products.

    Lasfit

    Superbright LEDs
    upload_2023-6-20_21-42-6.png

Although the beam patterns for height and width appear to match exactly for driving and fog. Way too much of a coincidence for an advanced optic. Counting ridges in the driving optic appear the same for both, both with the unique center screw in the optic. So it may appear they are sharing a common poorly reverse engineered Chinese TIR optic, placed in their own housings and boards that differ from each other. As demonstrated in the original post in this thread, Superbright LEDs is nothing more than a flipper of Chinese pod products where other brands sell exactly identical products under their own label. And the type of company Lasfit is has already been covered.

Carbon nanotubes! Someone won't know those are there, go to polish the headlight lens and end up with mesothelioma!/s

Neat article. Heated lenses in aftermarket LED lamps, like JWSpeakers, have typically used those nickle based resistive wires, and end up decreasing the lamps output to a pretty significant extent. It's funny to see how technology becomes implemented. A big "reason" for the push to LED lamps was energy efficiency, the idea being that reducing the power draw from the headlamps means you can build a lighter gauge/lower cost/lower weight wiring harness, all of which reaults in some fractional % towards improved fleet average fuel economy and reduced emissions. But in the crazy place we call the real world, it so often turns out that the "waste/inefficiency" of something is oftentimes providing some unrealized benefit. Here, the poor efficiency of an incandescent lightsource is actually being effectively utilized in poor weather driving conditions, in contrast something like an electric car would have to resort to an add-on device that draws power (admittedly only some of the time).

I'd imagine this might have applications as window defrosters as well.

Fogs don’t need to be any brighter or wider than the latest top tier fogs atm.

bad take or is there a better standard in performance that bd is trying to achieve?

Looks like another fairly narrow fog pattern.

And you can connect them to your phone via Bluetooth to use them as flashes for Instagram shots of the 2000 lb black cow that is totaling your truck in about 1.2 seconds.
