Aaaaannnnd.... my experience with dealers' warranty starts, after less than a year.
    I was dreading this day...

2022 Manual Tacoma - on extended warranty

4500 miles - I drive it sparingly as I travel (air) lots for work
Went on a business trip for over a month
Vehicle parked for said time - won't start. I jump start it with wife's vehicle.
Car is shaking, check engine lights on with message on screen, something related to throttle/transmission.
I take to dealer this AM - truck vibrates when stopped, jerks when trying to accelerate.
Dealer does diagnostics, says it could be multiple things including harness chewed by squirrels or mice. I look under the hood, no such thing, all cables intact.
After diagnostics they call and say its a wiring harness malfunctioning and not covered by warranty, looking at $2-3k.. that I could put an insurance claim.

Still haven't got all the details from dealer as this was just a preliminary call telling me what they *think* it is. Will know more tomorrow.

A harness malfunctioning/defective is not normal wear and tear is it? How can they say that's not covered by manufacturers warranty??
Starting to get pissed at the dealers' already planning on not honoring warranty.

    Would appreciate any advice/comments.

Insurance will crush them for suggesting it’s mice with out proof.

If it’s mice, it’s going to be a 8000$ trailer repair, you will have to go through insurance.

I told them the exact same thing- how are you going to prove it's mice? "well, you'll see bite marks... we've seen it before..."
but it's not mice or squirrels afaik, I checked under the hood for a while and no indication of that.
they already said it's $2-3k, still outrageous... but especially so when they say its *not* under warranty.

If you have the truck, go take pictures and video of the engine bay and wiring harnesses.
Btw, have any modifications been made to the vehicle and I mean any?

Truck's currently at the dealer - I snapped a bunch of pics under the hood including engine before it was driven away to the shop.
Mods? yes. 4" lift and dash cam installed (both installed by dealer)

OP do you know if these are any of the codes? Common diagnostic trouble codes related to the TPS include: P0121, P0122, P0123, P0124, P2135, and P2138.

Ok, even dealer installed, they are going to try wiggle. First are you 2wd or 4wd?
What 4" lift do you have, if I may ask. On 2 4 inch lifts... 2wd with maxtrac spindles or some out of the box drop backet lift. Did the cut the front cross member out?

The dead battery may be degraded and not outputting the required voltage. Load test the battery first.

I had a battery cable come loose and it had similar symptoms.

thanks for this - no idea about the exact lift without looking for the work order
but how does a lift relate to this, if I may ask respectfully
this all happened after the vehicle was parked for a month without being started - battery dead, engine throttle.

No, the lift should not have anything to do with what you are experiencing. But they'll point fingers in any direction. You drove down a dirt road and your engine bay is dirty. Sorry, that's no covered :spending:
