Just to pass along an update on my wife's situation.

Her mother took her to our doctor yesterday afternoon. The doctor highly recommended a trip to the local hospital ER, where they could do real time blood tests and administer the proper antibiotics in IV format, for the fastest recovery. They were arriving at the ER just before I met them there. Few hours later, doctor came in to say she actually has a very severe kidney infection, not food poisoning. They admitted her last night, my guess is she will likely be there a few days. Not fun, but at least she is getting treated for the proper condition, and has the best chance at a quick recovery.

Thank you She was feeling a lot better about an hour after they gave her the first IV antibiotics. I'm going to visit in a couple hours, will see how she is after a hopefully good night sleep.

Just for the hell of it....

As most know, ,California regularly burns to the ground every summer. This picture was taken in our back yard in August 2021. We lived near the Sierra foothills town of Placerville, about 60 miles west of Lake Tahoe. That particular year, one of, if not the single largest (in terms of acres burned) fires in CA state history was raging for months. It actually started about 15 miles from our house by a couple of assholes, not sure if intentional of just from stupidity. It was called the Caldor Fire. This is how thick the smoke was for weeks. The AQI app I have on my phone regularly listed 500+ on days this bad. On better days, the winds would keep it a bit clearer, and it was maybe only 200 - 300 AQI.

Just one of the things I do not miss about California.

Wow.

We've had several stretches of 200 or so AQI here this Summer...
... but only for a few days at a time.
That was bad enough.

 

Not quite sure if this was in reference to my wife's kidney infection, but no, she, I, and her entire family are #PureBlood (we have none of the silly jabs)

We even have the Canadian fire smoke down here in southeast KY. My AQI app has been anywhere between 75 - 150 for the last week or so. Can definitely see the haze in the sky.
