    A very wise statement!

That is the kind of answer I have been looking for!! That is actually exactly what I am looking at too.

I called DSM and the guy told me there is no problem with setting the shocks to 3" with the stock coils. This contradicts what people have said on here. Why did you not set them to 3"?

There is no 3" setting for the 5100's. There is 0, .85, 1.75, and 2.5 inches.

I meant 2.5". Here are my remaining questions

    1) Can the front shocks be set to 2.5" with the stock coils?

    2) Do I need a differential drop with this set up?

    3) Where the h#ll are the promo codes for toytec and DSM? I registered but never saw any codes

    Ok maybe one more

    4) What does the UCA do? Why does one buy it?

    1. Yes
    2. No, diff drops are basically useless on 2nd gen tacomas
    3. donno
    4. People buy aftermarket UCA's so that they can get their alignment in spec after lifting.

One lifts 1.5" and the other lifts 2"

$450 for better alignment!!! That is more than the lift itself!!!!!!!

Anyone have pics of their truck with this set up or something similar that adds the same amount of lift?

What are benefits for installing the UCA/risks of not installing it?

Lifting over about 2.5" up front will prevent you from getting your alignment correct without aftermarket UCA's .

Poor alignment can cause premature uneven tire wear , and wandering of the truck at highway speeds .

So if I am not going to get UCA would you recommend just setting the front shocks to 1.75" or is it not that big of a deal at 2.5"?

    Less is more.

1.75 will ride better than 2.5

1.75 will still be able to have a "factory alignment" without installing UCAs.

1.75 will look better with stock size tires than 2.5.

2.5 with a 1" Add-A-Leaf in back will be at risk of starting to look "cab high." (aka ass-down aka bro lean)

All that being said, when I was on the phone with Wheelers (where I bought my stuff) I got "lift height fever" and got the OME 885 springs instead of the 884 springs that would have been wise for my regular cab. I run big 'ol fat 285/70R17 tires that sometimes rub the inner fenders under compression and turning, and my caster is 0 instead of 2.5.

    And I like it.

EDIT: but if you go 2.5 in front, do us all a favor and get the 2" add-a-leaf in back.

If you stay at the 1.75" setting you will have no problems getting a good alignment with stock UCA's

Say I run 1.75", is the 2" AAL too much? Am I going to have a reverse "bro lean"?

    Compiling questions again:

    1) Say I run 1.75", is the 2" AAL too much? Am I going to have a reverse "bro lean"?
    2) What size tires can I run without making any other alterations?
    3) If I install the shocks in the back do I still need the AAL? If so, why?
    4) I know its a better shock but is 1.75" eve going to be that noticeable?
