That's easy; manufacturing efficiency. It's much more efficient to stand up a production line producing one type of widget versus setting up and tearing down multiple times.

Factor in the new paint facility they're trying to create, and that's an easy answer.

 

Great setup. Which molle panels are you using on the sides? Also where'd you get those mounts along the back window?

 

I mean I figured that, I'm just upset that mine was last in line (likely due the volume of other styles they had to produce).

 

do any of you use this with a raised sleeping platform? wondering how the headroom is compared to a regular fiberglass cab height shell. These seems to be a little taller, but not sure how much headroom you have on the inside. I am looking for a mid-rise fiberglass shell for a little more headroom over my softopper, but wondering if these will suffice.

 

have you seen those gaia toppers? the top lifts like a tent, but doesn't have fabric. might be an option if you can add your own fabric

 

Definitely looking to avoid a camper like that. Nothing beats sleeping in a hard shell with no fabric flapping in the wind while trying to sleep. Thanks for the recommendation appreciate it.

 

Molle panels comes with the cap bin and the adventure model. The mount from the back windows is from Rhino Rack.

 

Sorry. I meant to ask about the molle panels below the bin along the side of your bed.

Looks good! Something to think about is putting anything that could be a projectile in a crash that high up. Quikfists aren't that strong. Personally I would mount the axes below the top of the bed rail.

 

I get the heebie jeebies every time I see a truck out on the road with all the accessories attached on the outside of a bed/roof rack for this exact reason. Should be illegal IMO.

I have a question about the side doors to the Smart Cap EVOa. Will the doors support the addition to Traction Boards, Rotopax, etc?

I’ve been looking at the RSI Smart Cap and the Gaia Cap. The Gaia does support the mounting of equipment.

Ordered in late March from Offroad Alliance - installed yesterday by Teq Customs in Raleigh. Great work from both! So far very happy with choice (and strongly considered GFC and GAIA - RSI just works for me).

Wife a bit upset, as I kept caressing the cap and speaking softly to it last night. She may have to go...

Only challenge - ordered security mounts for Inspired Overland tent. Which didn't fit load bars - ugh. Awaiting new mounts to get tent on top.

Offroad will work with me to get new latches. Didn't want to slip delivery dates as new latches are TBD on adventure.

 

Keep us updated on the Inspired tent. I'm also considering that one. Perfect for the "occasional" need. I don't keep my toys mounted 24/7. Seems to be decent quality for the price. and 87lbs!!

 

Can you show some pics of the inside? I am guessing they didn't change much from previous adventures but curious as I am waiting on mine still. Does it have the little window for the 3rd brake light/bed light?

 

Yes all the NA Tacoma Caps come with the little window for the cargo light.
