I thought the same , that had be a sketchy rappel down that 900 ft mine shaft . Also accending back up had to be brutal on his upper body

    Good afternoon friends!

It's time to go outside and put another hour or 2 into the deck. I came up with a way to lock the aluminum siding panel into the vinyl starter strip that I had to use, it's only mildly ghetto and it will just fine.

I've heard it also go - up shits creek with a turd for a paddle. That seems worse somehow...

I saw that one last night, 2 videos in a short time. Brent seems to be in a better place, mental health wise. How cool was it that he found the 2 undisclosed mine shaft entrances while looking for the old water pump stations?

Take the "new" wheel and use it as a spare, or if it seems to be a decent replacement wheel, put the dinged one into the spare position.

I always wondered why it takes so many people to run the hoist winch. He talked about not having enough qualified help anymore to run it.

Can't run it remote that far down and and it's a big piece of equipment to reach 900 feet someone watches the cable and the machine. All the cave ins would freak me out. We have made a few visits to Cerro Gordo, knew the previous owner and got to walk through the original hotel before the fire.

Yes Brent looks better mentally but you can see him struggle a little with his confidence . I hope he's able to find someone who can operate the old winch for the carriage . If not it wouldn't be a bad idea to update the winch with a more modern design . I hope he can find away down to the 1250 level , I'm very curious to what's down there

Yes the Union mine was possibly damaged from the 6.9 and 7.4 magnitude earthquakes in Ridgecrest in 2019

Any chance we have an arborist amongst us? Came up to the lake and saw something (or someone)peeled bark from around one of our birch trees. Not sure if it is deep enough to cause mortal damage to the tree or not.

I thought I might be onto your secret since you were around the Idaho state line :notsure: He description makes it sound like a nice byway. Well, except for that unmaintained, possibly very muddy 5 mile section. You could try it as an out and back or just an out and stay if Chebby got stuck.

are there any teeth marks or knife marks? as long as there arent any bugs local to you that like to eat the trees and will use the weakened bark as a way in i dont think you ahve anything to worry about. native americans used to strips bark to make baskets and stuff, did no harm to the trees
nope, wasnt by ID this time. and that dumps into the beaverhead river which is having some issues and they've all but closed down to fishing. bad situation. never been on that drive but i could always dump the camper off and then go exploring for the day...

    Mornin’

Thanks, I was always told if bark is stripped all the way around that it can kill trees. No teeth or any marks I can see. I’ll be keeping an eye on it now.

Work is forcing me into retirement at 56. They won’t hold a position for me. Treatment day - fasting and I’m hungry…
