I got tangled in a stick last week and tore the wiring at the differential apart. In trying to fix it I burned up the Eaton wiring. Think I have a plan and solution now... just need some time off. Maybe next week.

Been working a lot the past two weeks. I own a business where I do bicycle repair at camps in the Northlands-lots of travel and wrenching. Today was day 6 in a row; which, for you youngsters isn't to big a deal, but for my advanced age it is tiring (especially given all the lifting and wrenching etc.) Get tomorrow off, so I dropped the trailer at the lake house (Thursdays camp is in Eagle River which is close to my place in Lac du Flambeau) and took the long way home. A few miles out of Mercer I took a left (West) on Moose Lake rd. 93 miles of dirt/gravel and rock later I hit pavement again in Sanborn WI (10 miles from home.)

The first place I drove through was the Moose Lake Natural area. I will be back! Lots of camping possibilities, new to me lakes and dirt traks to explore! This is Camp Six lake from the boat landing:

    18-4.jpg

I eventually hit Hwy 77, turned left and then ducked back into the mountains after a couple of miles. I eventually came to this lake near Mellon-in the distance is a known point for those who went on my Apple Fest jaunt-Mount Whittlesey. If you blow it up you can see the fire tower!

    18-3.jpg

Eventually I crossed hwy 13 and wandered around until I found the Bad River. Absolutely gorgeous crossing here; AND, the old abandoned rail line from down south... I built a rail rider a few years ago as a student project and I can't wait to get it out and go ride this section of rail! It follows the river though here. You can just see one of the bridges in the second photo. Long day... heading to bed!

The mighty Penokee's! John Prine, John Smith one of those yodolers, I can't remember who wrote a whole song about the dangerous mountain passes of central Wisconsin. They rank right up there with Colorado, Warshington and the such...

If you have a rail rider, take Hwy 13 south of Mellen until Conley Road and head west until you cross the Bad River and find abandoned rail tracks leading along side. Head north along the river there, several hidden waterfalls.

Ok , but really sounds funny seeing what the highest point in Wisconsin is like Only 1600 foot and don't quote me on that just saying. I've been all over the mounts. Wa. Co. Northern GA and NY. And South America. So Wisconsin. Might have some nice hills as they do around around the chippewa Valley or the Mississippi Valley but I don't think there's any mountains ! Do we have any Volcanoes up here ? Not sure if that's me or the Irish Whisky asking, lol

Wisconsin's mountains are nothing like out west, but also you could be somewhere more shitty like Indiana or Mississippi so there's that lol.

Timm's Hill is our highest point at like 1,950 feet. We are 42nd/57 of US high points including territories and islands and what not. Illinois is 50th so we are still better than those losers lol. Oddly enough Michigan's Mount Arvon is just ahead of us ranked at 41/57 and only 30 feet higher but that feels more like a real mountain. Minnesota is at 40 and has us beat by a couple hundred feet.

This is the stuff I come here for. (Also the truck stuff..) Awesome to ponder those stats just as I'm mapping out the August trip to Tennessee through way too much of Indiana.

For those of us looking to have parts powder coated, I just heard of this place near Jefferson.
