Well these ain't half bad. 3/4"+ thick, should stand up to a lot of use.

Just a light coat of oil for now, after a bath and wax they'll look nicer.

Nothing wrong with that but you could get something with a little higher output if you wanted for about the same price.

Your output is how much oomph it gives you. If you're like me, audio is a "that'll do" category. Can probably get more, but, eh, "that'll do"

My recommendation would be wireless carplay/connectivity. I have an adapter in my truck (stock head unit boo yeah). On a daily basis I get in and just leave my phone in my pocket and it works. It's great. (That one you linked has wireless android and apple)

 

hmmmm. i'm not a hardcore music person, but it is a little hard to hear the radio clearly with the noise from the truck as is. i've considered upgrading the speakers some day but i just want the radio to work for now

 

I'm a big fan of Pioneer radios. That said I've never owned a radio with the backup camera or a vehicle with steering wheel controls. YMMV

 

I'd have to defer to the audio peeps then. @mach1man001 too.

If you have plans in the future, buy once cry once, I wouldn't buy something for now and then have to rip it out in a couple years, might as well price that in now for future plans.

Output is how much power is going to the speakers continously and peak power. Power drives the drivers in the speakers and makes them move and that's how you get your sound. That Jensen put out 16watts continously power (RMS) while some others do 20-25 or more watts continous power

 

do you know what the stock radio is? as long as it's more than stock i'm good

 

Haven't read the other replies...but...the biggest issue with the stock head unit is lack of power. I've got the stock unit into a Memphis Audio line amp into a Sony DSP amp into Audio Frog speakers and a lot of sound deadening. Key was having the amp tuned for sound stage and imaging.

Probably 10 to 15w if I had to guess. I think it's like 12w, but I haven't looked at the back of one for awhile.

Pioneer makes good radios but I hated the user interface of the one I had in my old tacoma compared to other brands I've used

 

400w max or rms and for speakers?
