I normally wouldn't be so hard on this point but his first post was asking the TW community for money to support him.

He's named sponsors but has done nothing to represent any of them. I've yet to see any pics that focus on his Lowrance GPS, Engage suspension and fabrication, King of HID setup, etc.

To the OP, step up and let us see what your sponsors are doing for you. Let your truck be the showcase that drives business to them.

    no pics for you!!!

    hahaha

ok, well, i went out to look at the truck today...

spoke to one of the chase crew guys...

i guess Tyler hit a boobie trap and did an Aaron at a pretty fast pace... the stock spindles were toast and the front crossmember looked like it took a pretty good hit...

he is pretty bummed, so the guys are laying low right now...

other than that, the truck looked good...

    the sponsors ended up being

    Engage
    KingofHID.com
    8x10proofs.com
    All Pro Offroad
    Glassworks Unlimited
    California Mini Truck
    DJ Safety

    i may be missing someone...

i didn't have my camera on me today but i promise to get some detailed shots done...

im a bit slammed on other clients right now...

I got to meet Tyler at the shop right before the race, super cool guy. Sorry to hear about what happened bro but if anything it was a cool experience and you know what to plan for with the next race! Looking forward to hearing about the races you plan to attend in the future.

    :D

One big huge massive THIS! It's racing, and it's what happens. The Mint 400 a few years back had more than a 60% attrition rate and that was in the US without locals setting up booby traps.

The San Felipe 250 is SCORE's most punishing course. Breakage is the norm.

I put my front differential through my oil pan at Primm last year. Did it suck? Yeah. Did I have an absolutely incredible time racing? You're damn right I did!

I spoke with one team last year that had never finished a Primm race in the 5 years they ran it. Their 6th year was no different as they ran out of time repairing an exploded CV joint. Their truck is sick as hell, linked, whole nine yards, but racing simply throws so many variables at a vehicle and a driver that it's impossible to plan for everything.

OP, you raced in the SCORE San Felipe 250! It doesn't matter what else happened; that will never be taken from you.

Dust yourself off, have a few beers, get your truck back together, and for god's sake -- take some f'ing pictures! (I've got $5 riding on this :bananadance:)

yah, the whole booby trap thing was crazy...

Chris (the chase truck driver) said it was a hole with a tire to level it out, then covered with dirt...

on approach it looked like level ground, but Tyler must have hit it at about 25+ mph and the truck just sunk right in...

im hoping whoever dug the hole had a video camera... i kinda wanna see it...

the Baja 500 will hopefully be better now that Tyler knows what to look out for... hopefully i will be out there with my cameras too so we can get some footage...

it can go both ways. at the 500 the spectators created a mud pit to watch a big water splash. it back fired when racers were cautious because they didnt know what was in the water. some locals dont appreciate the fact that their land is thrashed by the spectators so they cause boobie traps as a way to try and scare score away

i was deff bummed, but had an amazing time.. and i am hooked. cant wait for the next race! as for the boobie trap yeah it sucked but i dont think that what did us in. we did learn a whole lot. now jus need to apply it to the next one and hope we make some more ground. I am back in idaho, and truck was left at engage to get an intermitent start problem fixed? but ill text Hass and see if he will post some pics of the spindle shawn and i fabed up. we got home and went str8 to tearing it apart. so i wasnt in the photos mood fellas.... and outt curiosty what is with this money i keep hearing about?? i asked for anykind of help, and recieved quite a bit of flak, but no help or cash?? but i really do appreciate your guys support. and those of you that have raced that can understand just how much time and money goes into one race. and those who havent and would like a chance Total Mayhem is looking for capable trucks to chase and crew for the 500!!

so the spindles you ran in the race that got fucked up were stock Toyota 4wd spindles that had the spine, box welded and gusset? and Hass took the damaged ones off and put the new Engage offroad gussets?

THAT'S the stuff! Very, very nice setup. Cage looks extremely sound and overbuilt, which of course is a good thing.

I've been harping on you because of the way the whole situation was approached. There wasn't even a "Hi" in your first post. It was a "We're racing, and you can help" type of thing with very little information provided. The truck came across as vaporware as there were no good pictures or even proof that you were entered in the race. Engage stepped in and posted more info on your behalf, but really I wanted to see you step up as the head of your race team.

That said, you suffered through the build and the last minute pre-race chaos, went to Mexico, kicked some ass, got yours kicked in return, and made it back. That alone earns a ton of respect from me. :toast:

I hope you'll hang around, converse openly, ask questions, provide information, and generally become part of the family around here. I'm sure you'll have a ton of volunteers for the 500 when it comes around!
