okay you ran 13's in a camaro i hope this is an SS camaro and still thats very hard to believe it being stock not tying to bash just giving my 2 cents. I can also show you many imports running under 14 seconds just not stock i own one.

Why would you want a gt mustang with an automatic? Auto's take the fun out of driving sporty cars

Autos are very consistent and thats what you want for drag racing.

But if your good enuf yes it can be a lot more fun with three pedals.

true, 5-6 speeds are more fun on the street or road courses, but for straight line drags (street or strip) the automatic will always win...i have beaten many 500 rwhp cars..

my car is full weight at 3300 lbs, looks completly stock, and will do 0-60 in 3.8..1/8 mile = 7.4 @ 93 and 1/4 mile = 11.63 @119.55

high stall plus low gears and a blower = holy shit !!

I know what you mean, my friend has a srt4 and that thing is fast, will beat my Mustang most of the time (but neither is stock really).

Ah no fair, you have a blower? I have 96 with long tube headers 3.73 gears and a few other bolt ons, runs in the low 13's (haven't made it to the 12's yet but it comes close).

My best time in my bone stock camaro was

    60ft 2.2

    1/4 13.8 105

That tells me three things. I cant launch to save my but. That the camaro is making more power than advertise. And since I had a six speed tranny-you better have a faster car cause you were not going to out shift me.

I was a long haul truck driver for 9 yrs 1yr local. I had guys come up to at 2 different night races and give me compliments on my driving. Had a friend who has riding with me and many others he said i was the fastest and smoothest when it came to driving. The one thing i always wanted was to be smooth as silk speed will come with time.

Yes the Lord hasnt got rid of my ego when it comes to driving.

Thought about that for a while but then I bought a 4.6 DOHC motor, just haven't fixed it yet. I want to stroke it to a 5.2L and run an 11:1 compression or a 9:1 compression with a supercharger. Or I could just get the twin turbo kit for my car. I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but all I know is that right now is that I can't afford any of it for awhile:(.

    OK,

Just a bump in this old thread as I'm a new member and exploring through the site.

I've also been bitten by the drag racing bug. My local track is pretty close to my house (27 miles away) and I was doing the test & tune thing 2-3 times a month. My best times are as follows.

    R/T 0.007
    60' 1.67
    1/8 mile 6.68@109 mph
    1/4 mile 10.35 @134.91 mph

Oh, I forgot to mention that those times are on a 01' Honda CBR1100XX with minimal mods'. Two Bro's slip on's, K&N filter, PCIII, -1 on front sprocket, front lowered 1.1", rear lowered 1.5".

You are sure right about that. To put most any kind of car into the mid-low 10's is an expensive venture! More expensive still if you want it to hold up for a couple of seasons without a major mechanical failure.

I'd love to dip into the high 9's but with my bike it's now going to happen. My bike is a Sport-touring / Hypertouring bike. It's not light, and it's built with older technology(circa 1995 although it's an 01'). I also weigh in at about 225-230 lbs with helmet and leathers, so in order to dip into the 9's with my bike and me on it would require the following.

Full exhaust, Re-mapped PCIII, and about 50 +/- HP of Nitrous. Doing that woud just get me into the 9.80-9.70 range but at a price. Money wise, it would cost me about $2K. Two grand for half a second when I can buy a new ZX-14 for $11K that with minimal mods will go mid 9's. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at now with the Blackbird. I don't want a purpose built drag bike because I tour sometimes. I don't have the resources to pick up a second bike either. It's a tight fit in my garage already !!

Thats cool yea spending the extra money when you are having fun now with the bike is pointless. I never did much to my car one because of money and 2 it was fun and relliable as it was. I would like to get something now but the start up cost is a lot or fixing something up would be a lot or i need to tone down my desire. the last one is more like i dont need a car that runs 10's would be nice.

If i ever get anything im leaning toward an 88-93 fox body just because there are som many and so many parts for them kinda like the 350 chevy from the 60's-70's. But i want a car i can drag, autoX, the maxton standing mile, maybe drift a little. Not a big fan of drifting dont like the idea of loosing because someone liked the other guy better.

The maxton standing mile is here in nc never been but read some articles on it. Its an old airfield and you stage your car then you have a mile to see what you can do the have bike classes too. Suped up viper went 225 last year.
