Talk you out of it? Why? Access cab is great if you want the long bed and don't need two "full" back seats. I bought mine because of the access cab (the electric lime metallic sealed the deal). Oh, and suicide doors are just plain cool.

I love my access cab....wouldn't have it any other way. Don't need a taxi to haul people around.

If its a great deal I think most of the time its best to put as little into transportation as possible. Also have to factor in resale or trade in value depending on how long you plan to keep it. My DC I can't even fit in the back but this still works for me and what I need it for. If my needs change it still has great trade in value.

    1. The rear window is closer to you so you end up with the sun beating down on you more than a double cab. This is second hand, I haven't a clue if it's real or not.
    2. More roof space on a double cab for a roof rack for kayaks or whatever the heck else you want to stash up there, if that's a thing
    3. Unless you're under 5'6 you can't rip out the passenger seat to make a sleeping platform inside the cab, like some idiots do. [IMG]

On the other side of it: a rooftop tent in the bed takes up almost my entire bed. Which is fine, it's a trade off, but I would need a hitch bike rack to move bikes around instead of just using the giant bed of a pick em up truck. My dog is 55ish lbs, she sleeps in the cab with me (you can see her bed behind my seat in that picture), she would be fine moving around in an access cab but would probably not be enthused about sleeping in one, she likes her space.

I did the rear seat delete, more storage, nice flat surface for the dog, yoga mat on top for comfort and stability.IMG_1207.jpgIMG_1206.jpg

Access Cab was fine for me and my dog but along came Wyatt in 2018. I had to trade up to my Double Cab PRO. Two great things, a son and new PRO.

I have an AC. My wife, me and my 15 lbs terrier. Removed the rear seats and made a platform in the rear. Just added his dog bed. He loves it. One half is his and the other half is a fridge when we go camping. He loves to sleep in the truck rather than sleep with us in the the rtt. I love all the room I have in my bed 6' can carry just about anything. You won't regret it.

Do it :101010:do it :101010:do it:101010:, access cabs are now a unicorn as Toyota has foolishly cancelled them for the next generation.

Access cabs with the cheap suicide doors are louder than double cabs. No sound deadening, and lousy seals.

Also better speakers in double cab. Keep what you got.

If you do go access, then get a real access cab fast before Toyota tries to sell you one that has a Prerunner sticker pasted on it but doesn’t even open.

The marketing hypes will tell you it’s an improved workspace but even your dog knows better.

You guys are great, love the enthusiasm for the AC! Dealer is sketching me out being shady with numbers…but I will be keeping a lookout for another one. They’ve been popping up around here lately.

Go git 'er. The AC rocks.

Much more space than folks give it credit for.

the double cab sacrifices space for behind the seat storage. with access cab seats basically tight against rear of cab there difference in space inside isnt actually that big of a difference. there are seat delete kits like goose gear that will give you loads of usable space. the short wheelbase and 6 foot bed made it a no brainer for me. 5 foot bed was not an option. even with space in the back my dog perfers sitting shotgun anyways ahaha

I bought an access cab as it suits my needs perfectly. If I had the need to transport people or enough stuff that needs to be dry and secure I would have bought a 4Runner. The double cab isn't good for people moving, the back seat is good for maybe young kids or dogs but not adults.

I'm glad this thread came along. It just reenforced the decision I made when I bought my AC (not that it needed reinforcement). :)
