Power had gone out, and although my air compressor was full to make the bends on the press brake, I still needed to cut the mounts.

    All done!

Not bad knocking this all out in just minutes.

    Only a 2hp motor, pump.is
    10cfm .

But with a bigger motor it can do a bit more.

I just finished voiding the warranty on my truck. I had a small gap on one of the edges that I filled. If you zoom in you'll see a little pitting.

Can I get some advice on preventing this? What is the most efficient technique?

Not sure why you feel like you voided your warranty?

I had patched quite a few frames before they were replaced.

prep then prep even more on vehicles getting things clean is always a problem.

I was under the impression that Toyota would use this as an excuse to not replace a frame.

My work was never a problem then I am well known to my local dealer.

A few of the early trucks were bought and crushed the newer ones had frames replaced .

All dealers are independently owned some can be quite bad!

Some dealers will attempt to weasel out of as much as they can.

Isn't it Toyota corporate that ultimately pays for the frame replacement? Wouldn't the dealership want to replace frames?

    In theory that is correct.

Not really the rate they get for warranty work is not as much as they can charge for normal labor. In many cases the lowest paid employee gets the warranty job.

It is a very complicated issue as explained to me. Corporate will pay so many hours for a warranty claim . If your techs are really good they can easily meet or beat the time allowed . If they can not the dealer eats the difference. This is a very simple answer to a complex issue .

Someone that understands the business :fistbump:

This is exactly why warranty work moves so slow, and is usually given to a tech that's learning and moving up in his or her certification normally with an experienced tech helping when needed.

More work they do, they become better acquainted (and learn quick shortcuts along the way) which in turn make for better efficiency. Even more importantly, no comebacks (or the least number as possible).

Need to know who to source customer pay jobs to and warranty jobs as good service advisors and managers.

I hated overseeing the service department :bananadead:

The service manager was cute and Had a really cute K-9 as well. Much information was traded both ways.

Many questions on 20 year old Toyota`s were asked of me. Free Coffee and fancy fresh pastry was well worth a few questions.

I found some sliders on Facebook marketplace for $750. They are for a long bed, I have a short bed. I'm considering shortening them. I'm not a great welder but I'm confident I can make it look good with some grinding and paint.

    Should I do it? I can't decide

    $750?

I've seen used sliders go for less. At that price you may as well get a set by 4XInnovations and weld them yourself.

It comes down to price !! Are they cheaper then buying the steal to make your own figuring in some consumables and labor.

That is How I decided on used parts I could make myself.

I adjust things all the time.

Maybe I should just weld up my own set. I could use the practice anyway

Offer him $300. That's a ridiculous price for used.

Make him a lowball offer, 200-300 tops. They don't fit your truck as is and he's asking new price for a used product.
