    sure, you can pull a LOT more weight, but that will significantly reduce the life of yer drivetrain..

    Yup , I am always concerned about that since mine did not have a factory tow package . Even though my truck is “beefed up” more than an Off-road or Pro model . I just made an appointment for new u-joints . The very rear one is new but the other 2 not . I replaced the carrier bearing once . I have a driveshaft shudder when I take off at almost any speed from a stand still . I might need those shims for under myDakar leaf packs also . :notsure:

    Funny you should ask.....

    My wife and I bought this "20 foot" Coleman Rubicon model in March 2022. I say "20 foot" because after we bought it, I would out the trailer is only 16', but they include the tongue in the overall length, so this is classified as a 20' trailer. We used it to move from northern California to southeast Kentucky in August 2022. So I have towed it about 3,000 total miles with my Tacoma. Trailer is supposed to weigh 3800 #'s dry, and we had maybe 300 - 400 #'s of clothes and other trailer-related items in the trailer, plus maybe 300 #'s of boxes, bags, and whatever wise would fit, in the camper shell. We came across highway 40 from Barstow, CA to Knoxville, TN. Highway 40 has lots of mountains in AZ and NM. On the move, I averaged a little over 9 miles per gallon on fuel economy, and even though it wasn't particularly windy, I was never able to get above 60 MPH, I spent probably 60% of the time in 4th gear, maybe 25% in 5th, never did get into 6th gear the entire trip.

    I have slightly taller tires (32" instead of the OEM 30"), overload springs on the rear, OME 885 coils on the front and Bilstein 5100's.

    A couple TW folks mentioned the reason my Tacoma had such a hard time with this otherwise light trailer is that it is so tall, it was the wind resistance, not the weight, that caused my truck to struggle so much. I hadn't thought about that, as this is the first trailer I have ever owned. But when I compare it to other similar sized trailers, it is quite a bit taller.

    /edit to add: My truck has the factory Tow package, and I did get a weight distribution hitch (can see in the top picture) and a Curt wireless/bluetooth brake controller. The braking is a dream, I never had any issues with being able to slow/stop - just a struggle when pulling it LOL

    Kevin,
    BLUF: It ain't about how much you can move, it's about how much you can control when the unexpected shit hits the fan.

    My inputs on the subject basically summarized in the two posts above. On TT it's as much the aerodynamics of the box as the weight. Weight distribution and tongue weight are also critical factors; get smart on that before you commit to towing a TT. Personally I wouldn't want to tow more than 4500ish pounds with any Tacoma. That's just my opinion based on towing a 6x10 enclosed trailer loaded at 3500ish pounds and a single axle flatbed 8x12 loaded with SxS 6x6 (Polaris Ranger) or 3 quad ATVs.

    My 2¢ for FWIW ... and I'd definitely equip a W/D anti-sway hitch and trailer brakes for a TT.

    @Tacotsubo
    Basically your truck will tow it...but it won't like it and you'll damn well know its back there. If you could schedule your trips with a tailwind each time you go, now that right there would be somewhat helpful.

    True/somewhat weird story.....

    Years ago I had a '95 T100. Anygritto.....my buddy moved 300 miles away so we built sides and a lid on an 18' ft trailer, threw all of his crap in there, hooked up to the T100 (bumper mounted ball :eek:) and set sail for southern Arkansas. Here's the weird part.....we took interstates, hiways, crossed railroad tracks...when I came to a stop in the driveway of his new home....my bumper fell off. o_O Right there in the driveway.o_Oo_O

    @Tacotsubo , towing mirrors were a very much appreciated mod on my 2nd Gen for towing the enclosed trailer. I haven't looked into them for Stitch as I no longer tow the enclosed trailer over the road. It's become a mobile workshop on Yeti Acres. I can see around/over/thru the shtuff I tow on the flatbed. If I eventually get the teardrop camper I'm mulling over, I'd likely look into a set.

    @mach1man001 , you out there Brother?
