@WarFab Armor makes good stuff, and has supported the event. Demello Off-road makes good sliders too, I used to run them.

 

Definitely steel. We've have guys rip holes in some very nice aluminum skids.

 

Where's the picture of your last truck the week before?

 

Yup. I still have the stock TRD OR skid, but when I upgrade the suspension and add a lift, she'll be able to handle that much more weight

 

You all are getting camp sites already?

looking at my schedule, I'm seriously considering coming in thursday night, hanging out all friday and friday night. Heading to work on Saturday, and then coming back up for Saturday night into Sunday.

I'm teaching a Legal Heat, UTAH CCW course on the Saturday the 14th, so i think i can time getting home, getting a shower, teaching and then coming back up.

 

Some of us have very little they look forward to in a year and AOAA is one of the things.

It really wasn't fair, I'm an industrial mechanic by trade and have no kids, and my girlfriend at the time just left me alone in the garage. Granted, I spent a solid amount of time solo in the garage getting this shit done.

 

Steel Sliders and full skid kit (IFS, Transmission, Transfer case, Fuel Tank and maybe Rear Diff)

You will need to reroute your exhaust, dont use Meineke

 

Even for the beginner trails?

 

Two years ago i didn't "sneak in" booze, i left my cooler at camp but i didn't really know what was happening and I apparently just went in without paying.

I didn't mean to. It just happened.

Don't do stock. I went out with the stock "skid plate" and did okay with that. But i was REALLY using my sliders on those trails. And i even still got a rock stuffed into my fender.

You can do whatever you want but i hate recommending someone to send it and then break their sh--. You can do stock pretty well out there but all it takes is one oh crap moment and they're not very forgiving.

Skids are recommended but you can do greens out there without them just fine. I wouldn't go out without sliders, but you probably could.

Good news is you should be able to get sliders within 3 months

I had the oem style predator steps and busted one of the steps in pretty good one on of the green trails.

 

That was when we had to ground-guide that gargantuan F250 with truck boxes through most of the sharp corners, right?

 

Last time I went, only had 33s and sliders, I should have my skid plates in by this trip, there are a few of us who just like doing the easier stuff

Same. this is my daily driver and I work out of this truck so I can't afford to smash stuff up and be without a vehicle.

 

Are most still using GMRS for coms? thinking about upgrading from my ancient hand helds units.
