The choice between a dual cab and an access cab Tacoma depends on your specific needs and preferences. Here's a comparison of the two:

    Size and Seating Capacity:

Dual Cab: Also known as a crew cab or double cab, the dual cab Tacoma typically has four full-size doors and a larger cabin space. It can comfortably seat up to five passengers, with more legroom and headroom in the rear seats.
Access Cab: The access cab, on the other hand, is more compact and has two full-size front doors and two smaller rear-hinged doors. It can seat up to four passengers, with limited legroom and space in the back seats.
    Cargo Space:

Dual Cab: Due to the larger cabin size, the dual cab Tacoma may have slightly less cargo space compared to the access cab when all seats are in use. However, with the rear seats folded down, it can offer more overall storage capacity.
Access Cab: The access cab often provides a larger bed or cargo area behind the front seats due to its smaller cabin size.
    Versatility:

Dual Cab: If you need to transport more passengers regularly or prefer a roomier interior for your passengers, the dual cab is a better choice. It's suitable for families or those who often travel with friends.
Access Cab: The access cab is ideal if you prioritize cargo space and occasionally need to carry additional passengers.
    Off-Road Performance:

Dual Cab: Both dual cab and access cab Tacomas can come with off-road packages, but some off-road enthusiasts might prefer the dual cab's larger wheelbase for better stability and performance.
Access Cab: The access cab's smaller size can make it slightly more maneuverable on narrow trails, but it may not be as stable as the dual cab at higher speeds.
    Aesthetics:

Dual Cab: Some people prefer the more traditional and balanced look of the dual cab Tacoma with its four full-size doors.
Access Cab: Others might like the sportier appearance and unique rear-hinged door design of the access cab.
Ultimately, the choice between a dual cab and an access cab Tacoma comes down to how you plan to use the truck, the number of passengers you need to accommodate, and your personal preferences. Take into consideration your regular activities, lifestyle, and budget to m
ake the best decision for your needs.

Usually I throw my bicycle in my 5ft box. (Ya, I know no yuppy bike rack). But I can fit it in my back seat if I want it locked away. (Not sure if it would fit in a AC cab)

I guess it comes down to what you need....

They are so, so lame, they do not look cool, especially on stock tires they suck. Terrible choice and I regret purchasing mine every day. I won't be keeping it as long as possible. Nope, definitely not. :lalala: PXL_20201105_164406559.jpg

Have a friend with an XL old school Rocky Mountain non-suspension, the bike is massive. We've fit some longer/slacker bikes in the back of my AC too, Santa Cruz Bronson, Devinci Spartan in mediums/larges as well. Hell, I've even been able to double up both bikes in a Honda Fit - that sucked though.

I’m going with somewhere between nonsense and bull shit! Nothing cheap about the back doors, same speakers (except if you are talking about JBL vs standard speakers) and never had any problems with the seals since March of 2017.

I’ve regretted selling all of my AC and 4Runners, I’ve had about 7 total, the only truck I’m ok seeing go was the DC, it just didn’t make sense to have the backseat feel less accessible.

I like the AC area behind the seat, it works for me and always has. I rarely put anyone in the cab with me so I’m good. If I needed the room, I would go DC again and build storage out, but I would always miss the suicide door.

Happy with current ride at the moment.

AC definitely can reduce the number of passengers. For some of us, that's a GOOD thing. And yet, I was able to take my two SIL along with wife/I when we took Luna to the casino. It was 30+ minutes drive, and they didn't make a peep once they got in the back. Only issue with that vs. Highlander is that my nephew couldn't go with us in Luna. But that night, he was grounded anyways :drunk:

6' bed was a requirement for me. The big cab with a short bed just looks. . . unbalanced. It's a truck, not a SUV.

Where are your rear speakers? In the second gen, they are tiny tweeters in the ceiling, not the back doors like the DC.

The door seals let in noise, not water or anything. Maybe the 3rd gen is better, but between AC and DC second gen, there is a night and day road noise difference.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely an access cab guy (had my 2012 for 9 years and 145k miles), but these are the main negatives for me.

Positives include SIL complaining about the back seat rest on a 4 hour trip to Asheville, lol.

Consider this when you see an AC with all of the doors open (like in this picture)... especially if they are all open on both sides: No center support beam from the floor to the roof between the suicide doors: There has to be some serious re-enforcement/support engineering going on somewhere in these trucks to make up for this missing (massive) piece. Frame, roof and cab? Lincoln made massive modifications to their huge Continentals' with the suicide doors to compensate for the no center body pillar style to avoid shake, frame-flex and panel alignment problems that came with the elimination of the body pillar between the doors. Something in these trucks (AC) has to be going on to make up for this large missing structural piece or they'd be rattling, twisting and shaking their guts out... especially off-road. Just my 0.02
