Not to ruin your thread but... I am possibly moving out to Boulder and wondered if my standard prerunner 1st gen (I see all of you are 2nd gen) will cut it? I was considering betraying tacoma and go for an AWD. Mountains are a must in my future.

You will be ok most of the time. 4x4 is definitely needed in the mtns though. I was fishtailing coming up 70 from the airport back to summit county last night, a quick flip of the switch and 4x4 takes care of most anything.

Yeah you would be OK. Some of the wheeling you would hate with no 4wd but you can still go to the Mtns.

I'm glad to hear that it will probably work. I know a new vehicle would be the last thing I need to spend money on if I'm going to be moving out there. lol Things are so much more expensive!

They usually keep the roads pretty plowed down in that area...just add a little weight to the bed and you should def be fine. I see lots of people getting around here in 2wd and the roads are in way worse shape in the winter here then anything I have seen in the winter in CO.

    When are you moving?
