Mass produced engines have been making it past 100k for decades in massive numbers. Even shitty ones.

I expect far better from toyota and I’m not giving them a pass just because of their past reputation.

I don't really recall being offered those. I only remember being offered worthless warranties through "MPP" (Mechanical Protection Plan). Absolute waste of money.

I was given the option to "upgrade" my truck from used to certified pre-owned for $2k but I declined on that. I don't know why it wasn't already CPO to begin with.

If my engine goes before at least 100k, I will light this bitch on fire in front of my Toyota dealership.

When you have to replace an entire engine, it's pretty simple....it'd had blowed up. Why it'd blowed up, is the question?

Well if they could keep the seats in the engine that would help.

Maybe for some crazy reason those cylinders are always on the lean side.

So much for Toyota's "continuous improvement" (Kaizen) philosophy...

That applies to the easily rusted out frames too.

Bad exhaust evacuation design creating temps that are too high for the metals.

    Amen Brother...

Cars in the fifties could be expected to reach 100K.

Its a great marketing campaign because you think of it as an improved finished product, but on the inside it means improved cycle time or improved by using less material.

If that were the case, those trucks would not perform on the top end like they do. I'd be leaning more toward a couple of those cylinders having more air flow into them for whatever reason, than the amount of fuel being injected into them.

Yep. After 169k miles I’ve gotten used to all the issues folks complain about with these engines…once I figured out all the nuances. I love this truck…

I love my truck, too. Reading these comments and driving a 2017 with 64k miles does make me nervous, however.

Thanks. Hopefully Toyota has replacement engines in stock. Maybe they will give him a 4th gen as replacement vehicle.
