Take the opportunity to get more proactive in your trucks maintenance honestly, my parking area is gravel but I deal since I don't have to put up with the bullshit of hoping a shop gets it right. The exception is when I need something in the dead of winter... money well spent at that point :anonymous:

    I wouldn’t say I’m being retroactive.

not sure how this is my fault? I’m not putting my truck on jacks on an angled driveway

Not saying it's your fault, I'm saying there's a reason a good chunk of us do our own work. Your experience is typically the rule, not the exception with trusting shops for routine maintenence. And I get it, your situation isn't ideal...but maybe you have a buddy with a flat spot you can kick a 6 pack to for a couple hours of space to work? Plenty of people bang this stuff out at mod days as well

Not your fault at all. There was one time I had aftermarket wheels on with plastic caps. Dealership couldn’t get a bolt to fit specifically, so they just threw in a random ass drywall screw of sorts. I was pissed beyond belief. Their only remedy was, “oh, let us find the original screw that was there”.
Like Matt said, bring it to one of us, I’m fairly certain we would be glad to help. At least those of us with relatively flat driveways, lol.
    MOD DAYS IT IS!

Finally finished caulking the camper, swapped out the outdoor speakers/lights as previous the old lights had stopped working. Also built a dog bed out of my wife's childhood bed

It's just carelessness. They make torque limiting extensions and torque sticks. They've had then for years and a lot of people have never used them. I have heard they're becoming required to be used by shops more and more though

It's all carelessness and, frankly, lack of pride in their work. It's not their vehicle, any shotty workmenship is the next person's problem as most vehicle owners won't even notice (like an overtightened oil plug or spark plugs). If I can avoid it, my vehicle stays out of the shop. I'll freeze my ass off doing brakes in my driveway in the dead of winter vs. having my center caps scratched to hell, lug nuts over (or under) torqued, etc. My faith in most shops has dwindled and if I have to recheck all their work afterwards anyways, I might as well do it myself. I know there are still a lot of good shops out there, but they're dying off quick!

Totally agree. The other thing is most impacts now have different torque settings right on the gun. You don't need it maxed out for tightening lug nuts. 2 on my milwaukee is plenty, 2 on my air impact is also plenty

Same, but my commute is 1.5 miles, I have a muddy dog in the cab every other day, and technically I can still go through the car wash

I do want a miata, or to build up a rally car onto long travel though. :cookiemonster:
