Homeowners or renters insurance covers theft at home. If it’s stolen from your vehicle I think [not positive] full coverage auto insurance will cover it. Anybody know if that last part is true?

I think most homeowners policies have a max payout for bikes, electronic, jewelry, art, etc and it is typically pretty low ($1kish). You have to have a special rider to cover any “valuable” property.

Most auto policies likely would not.

USAA will, or at least used to. I specifically asked an agent one time.

Just playing around with the SJ Evo, and went to a mullet setup. First ride was crappy - gearing was goofy, figured it was from not adjusting chainring size for smaller wheel. Swapped chainrings and went for another ride, it was better but I am going back to a regular 29er. I think the mullet setup would be better in a state with more descending. I love it on the e-bike, but on my trailbike not so much. I probably should have stuck with my regular Stumpy - but c'est la vie.

As stated, homeowners/renters covers them at home. Auto (should) cover them on the car. Definitely call and ask for the coverage, and make 100% sure it's "replacement cost". You want the $$ for a NEW comparable bike, not the value of the one stolen/smashed. Even if you add the insurance on, it's likely cheaper than bike insurance.
One downside is the potential increase in rates if you use the coverage. I had 2 bikes stolen, renters covered them, got a check for $15k. Next year premium went up ~$250 p/yr. I was good with that.

Generally auto insurance is exactly that, auto insurance and covers items, accessories, and things common to a vehicle that facilitates its use as a vehicle (hitches, racks, winches, camper shells, gps units, etc.) with some coverage provisions for personal items (purses, phones, clothing). If you do inquire to your agent or company representative I’d recommend asking them to show/tell you where bicycles are listed as one of those covered items in the auto policy. If it’s covered it’s going to be listed and will likely have a limit that leaves you disappointed if covered at all.

Whats your prof suggestion to close the gap for expensive bikes? Preferably to be cover on all fronts; home/transport scenario/theft from any?

I need to take your advice and request to see the spoken to coverage I have currently with Farm Bureau. I’ve been given the verbal ‘oh yea that’s covered.’ But I’m not sure I’m ok with going on the trust of someone’s spoken to verbiage will cover me should something undesirable occur.

Each company’s coverage or approach is going to be varied a bit so be sure to ask questions before you write the check. Personally I have endorsements on my homeowners policy that would cover the perils I’m primarily concerned about. In this case theft from home/storage and theft while in transport. Potentially covers other situations too but I’m not as worried about them. First world problems for sure.

I’ll add that I’m not an insurance agent so not selling anything but have worked for an insurance company for over 20 yrs. What I do may or may not work for you or apply in your situation, but it’s what I do.

Did you buy the mullet link or just throw a 27.5 on it?

My SJ Evo was my first 29'r. I came from a 27.5. Both bikes had the same chainring size and cassette. The 29'r has a lighter wheelset, but I definitely noticed the difference on sustained climbs!

I used the mullet link. My 29er was a 30t, threw a 32t on the mullet.

I have both (been on the original AXS for a few years) and the new T-type is just as quick shifting when you're riding. It doesn't seem fast (or as smooth) when shifting on the stand. However, when you're riding Transmission, the shifts are as fast, but smoother and quieter than Hyperglide specially under power. I'm used to the SRAM thunk when shifting into gear and Transmission is so quiet and smooth, I've had to look down to see if it actually executed the shift. Plus, Transmission is stupid easy to install.

Glad I'm not the only one. I rented a Spesh when I rode with @abacall and did not enjoy the experience. Granted, it was a rental

I've never had an issue with suspension performance from Specialized. :anonymous:

I threw a DVO Topaz shock on the rear and am happy with the performance over the Fox shock. Seemed to make a difference. The Cascade link is neat, but they're damn pricey for what they are and not sure I'd get the benefit based on how I use the bike. I'm happy overall with the Stumpy setup.

    Yeah.
This. I couldn't get used to it, made me feel unstable. Had me constantly checking my sag to see if something was off.
